Joy to Play
This guitar truly is a joy to play. The timbre is very sonorous and projects very loud, even for fingerpicking. I really didn't know how much the neck width would affect me since I was used to playing a 1 3/4 inch wide neck. After using this as my main guitar for several months the old Martin neck just doesn't feel as comfortable as it used to. The 1 7/8 inch neck is very much a part of my hand's muscle memory. Can't wait until the wood in the baby opens up. Fresh out of the box, I was able to feel the vibration of every note. The sustain is above my expectations, which I attribute to the tonewoods and the dovetail block connection of the to body union.
There is some slight chipping of the binding along the top of the front at the upper bout. Since it has not spread, I think I will keep it and just consider it part of the character of this guitar.
On the other hand, how can anyone dare to call the case an "elite" case? The glued on fake aligator skin cannot overcome the fact that this reminds me of the chipper board cases of the 70s/80s. I would not trust this case as a travel case, in a car or an airplane. It is only good for protection in the house.
I would definitely buy this guitar again. The sweet sounds, coupled with the neck that provides ease of play for arthitic hands, makes this dream true.
