Affordable Talman Reissue with an American Vibe

This reissue of the 1990s Ibanez Talman solidbody electric guitar remains faithful to the original in most every way, with the same woody tone, traditionally-styled alder body, and fast maple "C" neck that players have been talking about for the past two decades. This guitar has some notable advantages over other guitars that share the Talman's design, like a flatter fretboard radius that's better suited to modern playing techniques, and a contoured heel at the neck joint for better high-fret access.

Custom Vintage pickups for bite, twang, and sustain

A pair of classic-styled single coils gives the Talman 302 a familiar American twang with a higher output to drive tube amps. These Custom Vintage pickups respond well to dynamics, so you can ramp up from sparkling cleans to overdriven grit just by reaching for the Talman's volume knob.

Ibanez Talman 302 Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • Reissue of the celebrated Ibanez Talman of the 1990s
  • Full and lightweight alder body evokes classic American tones
  • Classic-Plus maple neck with contoured heel joint for upper-fret access
  • Maple fretboard with medium frets and classic dot inlays
  • Two Custom Vintage single-coil pickups for snappy attack and powerful drive
  • IFX-10 bridge with individual saddles for superior intonation
  • Locking tuners for reliable tuning onstage and in the studio

Ibanez Talman 302 Sea Foam Green

Sweet right out of the box. Makes me sound good. Love the color, satin neck finish, great intonation, spongy feel with .010's. Neck pickup warm as toast. Spanky bridge pickup. Really pleased. Neck does not feel narrow. Frets nice and fat. This is my choice for guitar of the year. Best bang for the buck. Do I sound effusive and possibly employed by Sweetwater/Ibanez? NOT. Sometimes people just get stuff right and I got excited. There is nothing I don't like about this guitar.

Effortless Beauty for the Money!

What an amazing guitar for the money! I bought this Talman 302BM from Sweetwater because it has the features I want in a “T” style guitar: belly bevel, arm bevel, low profile bolt on neck joint, fully intonatable bridge, 12” radius fret-board, wood type, and string-treeless headstock design. I have never owned an Ibanez and have not bought a “cheap” guitar (under $1200 not disparagingly used here) since my first Peavey “S” style 20+ years ago. I can’t believe how nice this guitar is for the money; I really can’t. I told myself, Forget about price; forget about brand and paint job; just find the guitar that has the features you want and give it a whirl; be adventurous. I ended up with this 302BM in mustard. Notes: The electronics are middle-of-the-road quality and I figured I’d upgrade them in the future, but after playing it for a while now, I don’t think I will. The locking tuners I can take or leave; I’ve personally always thought they were a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist and these ones are not great quality- these are the highest candidates for upgrading. The nut is thinner than I like and slightly pinches the D’Addario EXP 10’s I have on it. I did my own intonation and action/pickup-height setup when I got it and will have the nut done professionally to seat 12’s eventually. One other thing, The plastic protective layers on neck pickup was crazy to remove. I popped the pickup out to remove it completely, but one may get it by simply raising the pickup to it’s fullest then peeling it free. The Ibanez recommended hard-shell case is: W101RG. She’s a keeper! Sounds beautiful and plays effortlessly all over the neck. For what it’s worth, I’m playing primarily finger-style in Jazz, Classical and Blues styles through a Morgan Abbey and very few pedals.
