Classic Tones with a Twist

The Talman 1803M solidbody electric guitar delivers the accuracy and precision of Ibanez's Prestige line in a guitar design that harkens back to some of the most sought after vintage guitars of all time. The bolt-on maple neck joins an alder body for added snap and clarity. A trio of Seymour Duncan single-coil pickups deliver both classic twang and out-of-phase spank. And the 1803M boasts Prestige appointments like flawlessly rounded fret edges and a flat 12" fretboard radius. The Talman 1803M electric guitar mixes Ibanez precision with vintage vibe.

Vintage-style construction

The design of the Talman 1803M is a direct throwback to the popular twang machines of yesteryear. The maple neck is bolted to a solid alder body, giving you a tonal balance that is a favorite with Sweetwater guitarists. The comfortable C-shaped neck boasts a modern 12" fretboard radius for wide bending. And the 6-saddle IFX-Pro bridge offers exact intonation. This bridge design and the three Seymour Duncan single-coil pickups are responsible for the guitar's growling, twangy sound.

Versatile electronics package

The Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro and Vintage Flat single-coil pickups in the Talman 1803M are wound to deliver the low output, clarity, and snap that characterized the sound of country music in the '50s and '60s. But the Alnico 2 rod magnets in the Alnico II Pros soften the treble attack, avoiding excessive high-end bite. The Duncan Vintage Flat in the middle position can be blended in to taste, for that clucky, out-of-phase sound made famous by players like Albert Lee and Mark Knopfler.

Prestige

The Japanese-made Prestige instruments are constructed with three principles in mind: precision, performance, and playability. The high-tech manufacturing process also uses old-world Japanese craftsmanship to deliver on these goals. The Talman 1803M joins this lineage, giving you flawless fretwork, rounded fret edges, and comfortably shaped necks. These instruments come from the same minds that brought you such guitars as the iconic RG and S models. The Prestige line of electric guitars and basses offer you Ibanez's top-of-the-line features, craftsmanship, and tonality.

The way the Tele SHOULD be!

Got Ibanez Talman 1803M on 2/24/2016. Ordered one months ago, but canceled as they weren't available. Dan Vanamorongen, my SUPERB sales engineer, called me 2/19. One in stock! "Well, tomorrow IS my birthday, so...!" This guitar has Seymour Tele PU's with Alnico II's and a Strat PU in the middle which must have V's because it's a LOT spankier. The stock way it's wired is good, but tough to switch between all Tele or all Strat PU alone on the fly, so... Yesterday I got rid of tone pot and added LP style selector in it's place to select between either pickup set or both (I almost never touch a tone pot and this one had a less than stellar sweep, anyway.). This has made a huge difference. I played it with the band last night and the ease of switching between the Telel set and the much more cutting Strat PU was fantastic. Of course, don't do this until you're sure it's a "keeper"! The contours are very comfortable and the sucker stays in tune better than any guitar I've ever owned in 53 years of playing. (Ernie Ball 009-046 Cobalts.) Note that you don't get the quacky ton you get with a Strat in positions 2+4, but, in my opinion, that's a good thing. In stock configuration, the guitar is at it's mellowest with all 3 PU's on, but you can change the tone a lot by backing either volume pot back just a bit. Buy on. If you're a Tele guy (or gal...) you'll love it!
Music background: Been playing since 1963. In bads since '65....
