Seymour Duncan TB-4 JB Model Bridge Trembucker Pickup - Black Reviews

High-output Bridge Humbucker - Black

The JB Model TB-4 is one of Duncan's - and the world's - most popular pickups and provides the classic sound of a hot-rodded humbucker that we've all loved for the last 30 years. Boasting plenty of output without sacrificing tone and adding the right amount of harmonics, sustain, and distortion, the JB Model TB-4 is great for anything from heavy blues to heavy metal - with an emphasis on heavy! But excelling at aggressive music isn't all the TB-4 can do, as it cleans up nicely providing warm, sweet tones. The JB Model TB-4 is built for great tone!

My fave!

By Sweetwater Customer on March 10, 2023

I use these in all of my guitars except for a couple that have seymour duncan Invaders in them. I have an extensive collection and I like to have as much consistency as possible plus that great full tone that cuts!

I was looking at upgrading the pickups in a jackson dinky but wasn't sure what I should upgrade too my sales engineer Gregg Block suggested this paired with lil 59s and my God does it sound so much better I will probably end up adding these to my other guitars as well

A tried and true classic

If you're looking to improve your guitar's tone, you would be HARD pressed to find a better just put it in and see what happens pickup. The JB is friendly with basically EVERY amp, EVERY style of music, EVERY guitar wood. It is my go-to suggestion to folks. I always have one of the trem bucker (use this on anything that is NOT a tune-o-matic style bridge) and one humbucker (use this on everything that has a tune-o-matic style) in stock. This is a great pickup. There are better options for specific purposes, but this is a "does it all, and does it well" pickup.

Love this pickup-awakens the sleeping beast!! So far, sounds great on bodies made of Ash, Alder, and Mahogany/Maple. I recommend that everybody tries one.

My go to Bridge Humbucker!

By Brandon Howell from Paden City WV on December 4, 2017 Music Background: Session Musician, lead guitarist

I played my first Seymour Duncan JB when I was 18 and suddenly had to have one! It"s been my go to pickup for years! I played in a band that did played everything from Styx, REO, Little River Band, Lonestar, Carrie Underwood, and the list goes on. You want a pickup that will make your guitar chunk for rhythm playing? This here will do it. Cleans up when you roll off your volume? Got ya covered. Screams when I play a lead? At 17.4 K uh yea it will melt the strings off your guitar this baby is HOT!!! Pick one up or any Seymour Duncan pickup they are simply the best!

Blown away!

Replaced a Dimarzio super distortion in my Strat with a Duncan JB. I was amazed at how much more depth and warmth it has now. It has everything good that the DiMarzio has, plus a lot more! The JB has got to be the absolute best humbucker ever made!

Go to replacement

When purchasing a less expensive guitar,I've found that you can find an instrument that plays quite good. Fast neck and good intonation can be had and not break the bank. That being said, where most of these products come up short is in the hardware. This particular pick up combined with the jazz model in the neck position, brings the sound up to a more expensive axe. My go to drop in set for my "bar" guitars.(and it doesn't break the bank)

Fenders May Need Modification

By Jake Osborn from NM on December 17, 2017

Sound wise, this is my favorite pickup. Ever.

However, SD didn't thread all the holes, so on my Fender Cyclone, which is configured 1-screw on the right left and 2 on the right, I had to buy smaller screws and use a nut to tighten it. It's a simple thing to thread all those holes, or else why have them?

Very shrill and brittle tone

By Sweetwater Customer on June 3, 2021

Im an 80s guy, grew up playing Super Distortions and potted PAFs. This pickup just does not have the harmonic bloom, detail and the meat that other similar bridge pickups do. I installed it in a project strat build (maple neck/ash)It is just like spikes to the ear drum when loud, really flat spiky mids and WAY too much treble. Some folks say use a 250k pot but then the other pickup suffers. That's like saying cut off your foot if you have a cramp. Not sure why it is so popular.
