Loop Switching, AB-Y, Clean Boost, and Much More

Looking for an effects pedal loop switcher that actually leaves some space on your pedalboard for your effects pedals? Check out the EarthQuaker Devices Swiss Things Pedalboard Reconciler. There's a lot going on here — Swiss Things combines two true bypass, Flexi-Switch enabled effects loops, AB-Y functionality (with transformer-isolated outputs), a buffered tuner output, a 20dB clean boost, and an expression pedal jack for volume control. One effects loop is unbuffered for best operation with fuzzes and other finicky pedals, the other effects loop is buffered and intended for reverbs, delays, and other time-based effects. With this many routing options and handy functions, the EarthQuaker Devices Swiss Things Pedalboard Reconciler may be the key to creating your ideal pedalboard rig.

Two effects loops, with momentary or latching switches

The Swiss Things pedal features two loops for your effects pedals. One is buffered for maximum signal quality, while the other is unbuffered to play nicely with certain fuzzes and other pedals that don't work well with buffered signals. You can switch each loop independently, and you can even hold a loop switch for momentary operation.

Perfect for dual-amp setups

Dual outputs make the Swiss Things Pedalboard Reconciler the perfect solution for two-amp setups. Hit the A/B switch to toggle between them, or hit the Both switch to engage them both. The outputs are transformer isolated for maximum signal integrity.

Built-in clean boost could replace one of your pedals

Guitarists at Sweetwater love using a clean boost pedal to overdrive an amp's front end. The Swiss Things Pedalboard Reconciler features a clean boost with up to 20dB of gain, plenty to get your tube amp cooking. Best of all, the boost features a Flexi-Switch too, allowing for momentary boosting in addition to latching operation.

EarthQuaker Devices Swiss Things Pedalboard Reconciler Features:

  • Compact utility pedal features effects loop switching, clean boost, AB-Y routing, and more
  • Flexi-Switch switching allows for latching or momentary operation
  • Expression pedal input allows you to control volume without using a tone-sucking volume pedal
  • One loop is unbuffered for best operation with certain fuzz pedals
  • Other loop is buffered for maximum signal integrity
  • AB-Y switching with transformer-isolated outputs is perfect for two-amp guitar rigs
  • Adds a lot of functionality to your pedalboard without taking up lots of space
  • Clean boost with up to 20dB of gain may eliminate your need for a separate boost pedal

Does exactly what they claim, and does it very well

I'm using the Swiss Things in the configuration shown in my pedalboard picture and so far it's been dead-silent and I am very satisfied with it. In Loop 1 I'm using distortion/fuzz pedals and in Loop 2 chorus/reverb/delay. The built-in output buffer is only in effect when Loop 2 is engaged so that's something to be aware of. The loop switching is silent even at high volumes which is great. I've just ordered an expression pedal which I will use for volume control and I will be adding mini buffer pedals at the input and output plus a wah pedal somehow in the mix. The audio quality of the Swiss Things justifies the price in my opinion. I play 70s/80s/90s cover tunes with a single coil Strat into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (set clean) with this pedalboard and it sounds great. I'm powering everything with 2 Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 units mounted underneath the deck. I'll be re-wiring the pedalboard more appropriately soon so please don't laugh at my cabling!

Violin/mando player

I play violin and mandolin and don't use many effects pedals but this is a very useful solution for me even though it wasn't necessarily designed for players like me.

Both instruments are acoustic with passive pickups and I use the same input cable for both. I first run into an LR Baggs acoustic pre-amp/DI box, then into the input of the Swiss things. The A/B output goes directly to the board so each instrument has a dedicated line to the board so the sound guy can mix each independently. I think the sound is similar to going straight into my LR baggs box and then to the board. Two instruments require only one expensive acoustic DI. Fortunately both instruments have comparable input levels.

I have a reverb/delay pedal running through loop 1. I don't have anything in loop 2 so it serves as a mute switch. The tuner is always on and I can tune silently by clicking on loop 2.

The boost is nice. It's honestly way more than I need, but it's adjustable so i can dial it back. I have it set at 1/4 of the max boost. I use it all the time as I play in a loud band with bass and drums.

For me, it's a nice AB box, mute switch, and boost pedal all in one organized package, all of which I need and would individually cost the same if not more. It also makes a tidier pedal board.

This thing would have many more uses for people with huge pedal boards but it's completely worth it for folks like me too.

great value

lives up to it's name. handy dandy without being too complex. i guess if you need to switch between really specific settings this is not ideal but i don't so…..by the way the boost is easily the best part. super clean with tons of headroom.

pedal loop switchers with extra options

I love this pedal. It's simple, I don't have think too much when switching something out. This has encouraged me to look into getting a loop switcher at some point but for now this stays on the board.

Does so much!

I would first like to praise the volume control for delivering exactly what it promised. Minimal to no tone suck! It's been a great way to try experimenting with two amps and stereo effects.
