A Wider Range Than the Original

The JHS SuperBolt V2 overdrive pedal re-creates the sound of the combo amplifiers used on legendary recordings by Jimmy Page and Brian Setzer among others. The SuperBolt V2 gives you the touch sensitivity and power amp sag that made the original amps so much fun to play through. Cranked up, the SuperBolt V2 is mean and nasty. At lower settings, you get a more subtle, darker tone. And this updated version of the pedal boasts an improved taper on the volume control for a wider sweet spot. However you use it, the JHS SuperBolt V2 will sound great on your pedalboard.

JHS SuperBolt V2 Overdrive Pedal Features:
  • Updated version of the popular SuperBolt overdrive
  • Classic amp-style overdrive tones in a pedal
  • Volume, Tone, and Drive controls
  • Gain switch goes from high headroom grit to squishy drive
  • External footswitch input for gain switch
Classic combo amp overdrive in a pedal.

Great feeling/sounding pedal! Page in a box!

This pedal is awesome. I use it through my Friedman BE100 as well as some Fender amps (Super Champ, Twin). It gets that Supro tone for sure, with a great saggy feel, sort of like an old tweed/bassman amp, with a brighter mid range. Jimmy Page tones are in here for sure (with Humbuckers/Teles), but also some Hendrix as well (with a Strat). I run it both into a clean channel as well as a gain channel set to medium breakup. Into a clean amp you get some nice tweedy low gain tones with some nice fatness on the lower strings. It has a nice amount of gain that can get mushy/fuzzy but in a very musical and enjoyable way (think Zeppelin's "You Shook Me"). It is very responsive to your hands! I love adding this to an already overdriven amp for a bit of Supro flavor on top. Its in good company on my board with many other proven, high end pedals and its never coming off! Fuzzes sound awesome into it (think "No Quarter") Boosting it with a Suhr Koko Boost or Rock Box Boiling Point sounds great as well. If you like that fat Supro tone with great response to pick attack, go for it! Just make sure you run it into a good quality tube amp for the best results.

Great pedal

You really do get what you pay for with this pedal. I haven't played a ton of overdrives by I've had and have several. This one beats them all. I play modern worship and this pedal gets them most use. My amp is a dr z z28 run clean. I love how amp like and dynamic the super bolt is. I usually run it on the higher gain side of the switch and keep the gain knob from noon to 1 o clock. I can play light and have a full dynamic clean sound or dig in an get a great sounding drive. It works really well running my sweet honey overdrive or a tube screamer into it for another stage of overdrive. Don't think this is gonna leave my board. I think jhs takes the cake when it comes to drive pedals.

"King of CRUNCH"

I bought this pedal spontaneously after reading some reviews on it's sag qualities and such. I've always loved that type of sound along with a pushed speaker sound, and this pedal does it great. It also is a very nice sounding OD pedal with the gain on lower settings, and the toggle is great to add some thickness and more flavor. I love a good dirty/crunch sound and I can get it and more with this pedal. I was using a wampler euphoria before (which is a great pedal) but I couldn't get the sound I was looking for, it was a bit refined or something. This one ain't moving off my board!

great pedal! overdrive and distortion in a box!!!

Great tones...

I've owned dozens of pedals, and plenty of overdrives. My board always has three dirt pedals. I originally bought a Muffuletta, and it's awesome, if you want great Muff tones. For me, and my rig, it just wasn't a good fit (Les Paul into a medium wattage Marshall). I returned it to swap for this, and couldn't be happier. This thing has a killer amp-like feel. I always watch product demos online, and have honestly never liked many on this pedal. But, placing it in my chain, it's perfect. I don't really use the higher gain setting, but it is a very useful tone as well. Honestly, I think the remote switch should be a 3-6dB boost (maybe an internal level adjustment), rather than a mode switch, but for someone else, it may be a welcomed addition, just not for me. Anyway, in terms of tone, it really nails that early Page tone (LZ I- Houses). Also, the breakup can be really reminiscent of a fuzz, which is why I swapped the Muffalletta out. For me, I prefer this fuzzesque tone to that of a Muff, which can be a touch muddy and a bit sizzley in the upper mids, which the Muffalletta does, but in a better way than most Muffs I've owned and have heard; I've owned several. This is a nice blend of overdrive and fuzz, with the best characteristics of each. Cleans up well and can totally destroy your amp's front end, what more could you ask for?

Sweetwater Advice

Anthony Jenkins

I purchased the SuperBolt V2 based on JHS's impressive reputation among guitar pedal fanatics. I was looking for something that could do everything from mild amp-like breakup all the way to a fully saturated overdrive. I was so impressed with how it handled my guitars that I decided to try it in my bass pedalboard for a gig. It fit in flawlessly!
