Something Different than a TS Variant

I love that this pedal is not another straight up tube screamer. The tone is looser, more amplike and interesting. It gets a little spongey with the neck pickup on my Fenders and Gibsons but is tight and rockin' with the bridge pickups. I love JHS build quality and design. This is a fantasic pedal for straight up hard/classic rock. The fact that you can turn the drive down to no sound at all like the pre-amp of a tube amp is an interesting, amp-like touch.

    Spectacular SuperBolt

When this pedal first came out, I read about it and saw some U Tube demos. I wasn't impressed with what I was hearing and kind of forgot about it. When Sweetwater got JHS pedals, I took a look at their demo by Josh Scott and got interested. He plays an Elliott guitar like one I have. This overdrive is the real deal for me. It perfectly creates the sound I had in my head all the time. It is very well made, quiet at idle, great for recording and extremely versatile. It's the kind of thing you can leave on all the time. Warm, organic, smooth and can be set to sound like an old Valco made entry level amp 'driven to within an inch of its life' Highly recommended.

    disappointing

the issue with this pedal is that if you push the gain a little, it sags at loud volumes. This is supposed to be the Led Zep must have pedal, but when I run it through my Ac30 with the gain at 40% and the amp turned up to compete with a drummer, it sags.I asked JHS support and they said it's designed to do this, just like an old Supro amp. so it only really works in the studio, or at low volumes.
