When it comes to stability and punch, you really can't go wrong with a maple neck, and the thin U contour ESP decided to give the E-II Stream bass, although perfectly comfortable, provides all the mass you need for days of sustain. At the same time, the white ash body offers up delightfully complex harmonics and resonances, and while you may choose to roll off some of that top end with the delightfully effective EQ (always something we look for in a bass, here at Sweetwater), at least it's there if you want it. And you really can't knock the flamed maple top.
EMG Soapbar pickups deliver classic P/J tone with extra oomphIn the absence of a visibly split middle pickup, you're probably not expecting the ESP E-II Stream to deliver classic P/J pickup versatility, but that's exactly what you get from these EMG Soapbar series pickups. For example, the EMG 35P4 actually houses a pair of offset coils that work just like a traditional split-coil pickup, serving up bold lows and brilliant highs. Likewise, the 3.5" EMG 35J is the same pickup as EMG's standard J pickup, providing you with solid low and well-defined midrange. Put it all together with a set of stellar electronics, and you've got seriously versatile tone.
Hipshot A-style bridge offers low-profile comfort and flexible stringingDo you have a favorite set of bass strings? Wouldn't in be a shame if you couldn't use them with your brand new bass? Thanks to the Hipshot A-style bridge, you probably won't have to worry about that particular issue with the ESP E-II Stream bass. For starters, the Hipshot A-style bridge lets you string your bass either through the body or across the bridge, allowing for a wide range of string lengths. What's more, each of the saddles are fully adjustable, making it easy to intonate for a range of string gauges.
