Great guitar

Like many of the reviewers I also have plenty of guitars to compare this one to, Charvel J.E.L, Gibson Les Paul, American and Mexican Strats, Charvel Model 6, Jackson Adrian Smith and others. I bought this guitar on looks alone and was blown away after playing it. The neck is heaven and the fret ends are better than ANY of my others. Just because its what I do, I put in the EMG Gilmour set and bolted the neck joint with 1/4'' bolts. The result was a Squire that plays and sounds as good or better than any of my other guitars. Stock tuners are awesome and always stays in tune. If the Charvel J.E.L is worth $2300 then this Squire is worth at least that, Truly a unbelievable value. After playing this guitar I also bought the Squire '50's surf strat in sea foam green with lipstick pup's, Also a great guitar, Not quite as good as this '70's strat. Nearly 20 years ago I had a Squire strat and it's amazing to see how good they are now. I have a total of $600 in my guitar and I would put it up against ANY guitar made.

Great guitar for double the money!

To spend any more money on a strat you're paying for the name on the headstock. This guitar feel and sounds great. I've owned strays at every price point and I'm not saying this is as good as a $1200 American but it's a fine instrument without spending that kind of money. That combined with the 55 point inspection and set up make this guitar a steal.

Squier Vintage Modified '70s Stratocaster - Black

I was mid-stream at producing a movie soundtrack album and had ordered a strat from Sweetwater. That particular strat was on a lengthy back order, and so I asked my sales rep, Chris Leonard for assistance. I wanted something inexpensive, in the ballpark for what my original order sold for. I needed something reasonable for studio recording only, and I needed it extremely fast to meet my deadline! He suggested that I purchase the Squier Vintage Modified '70s Stratocaster - Black. This guitar was great right out of the box. I didn't have to make any adjustments. It's got great action, right for my tastes. The feel of the fret board sits well! The look and the tone are amazing. I've owned a lot of guitars over the years, and this is my favorite!! Since receiving it, I've put a hefty amount of mileage on it, and it's a tough one! Thank you Chris Leonard and Sweetwater for a great recommendation and for superb service!

Black Strat

I am very pleased with my purchase of this Squier VM. Fit & finish is excellent. Light body, and a good thin feel to the neck. It seems they are doing things right in Indonesia where it is made. I was going to spend more on a Made in Mexico Strat, but I'm glad I bought this great sounding Strat for 1/2 as less $ than the MIM Strat. A big thanks to SW salesman Tommy Winter for his personal attention to my order. Buy from Sweetwater. You will be very pleased.
