The timeless appeal and vintage vibe of a classic Stratocaster

The Squier Vintage Modified Strat HSS gives you the timeless quality of a true vintage Stratocaster. Chrome hardware adorns its resonant basswood body, and a traditional rosewood fretboard tops its maple neck. You'll particularly like the look and feel of its neck, which is finish with a vintage-style tint that gives it the atmosphere of a well-aged but well-cared-for Strat.

From blues to metal, this HSS pickup configuration gives you the tone you need

You'll love the extra-broad range of tone your Squier Vintage Modified Strat HSS gives you. A hybrid set of Duncan Designed pickups deliver the best of what both humbuckers and single-coil pickups have to offer. One moment, you can lay down heavy riffs off of the humbucker at the bridge, and the next, you can switch over to the single-coil middle or neck pickups for bluesy, Strat-style leads. No matter what style of guitar you play, your Vintage Modified Strat HSS gives you the tones you need.

Tricked out with period appointments and vintage touches

From top to bottom, the Squier Vintage Modified Strat HSS features vintage touches that make this guitar feel like an old friend from the past. It's got a '70s-style headstock that's larger than the modern style and vintage-style hardware looks period-correct, too. Add to that parchment dot inlays and aged white pickup covers, and you've got an unshakable vintage vibe.

Sweet plank

The quality and sound of this guitar is awesome....more than I could ever expect for the price

Love it!

I am very impressed with this guitar for the money! It plays nice and the neck is comfortable. I could have done without pealing off all of the plastic (2 layers on the front), but after getting that done, the finish was perfect. I looked long and hard to find a flaw, but could not. It is a great value and I love the option of kicking in the Humbucker! It makes it very versatile.

Not just for beginners

This is the second of the Vintage Modified series I own. They're really nice guitars. I have this hss model and the vintage blond 70's model. They're both very nice. The finish and setup are perfect. The pickups are very nice. They do well playing clean and over-driven. I really can't find anything negative to say, especially at this low price. It's not just for beginners. I've been playing guitar since 1980. I've owned cheap guitars and very expensive guitars. I prefer owning more cheap guitars than fewer expensive ones. Personally I think this line from Squier is better than the standard Fender Mexican models. You won't be disappointed with this and I'll bet you end up buying more than 1 in the VM series.

After 15 years of playing guitar I was embarrassed to tell people I'd never owned a Strat. I'm mainly a Les Paul kind of guy. But I figured eventually I'd have to get one just because. I decided on this one due to a lot of good reviews I had seen on the web and because of the seymour duncans in it.Guys this guitar &#@*%!^ ROCKS!!The duncans are incredible and after getting used to the body (remember, les paul guy) its very nice and comfortable to play. It can do all kinds of things, from blues to really heavy metal. The bridge pick up will absolutely scream if you want it to.Only two problems I had were the tuners and the saddles. I just put some locking tuners and a wilkenson style bridge on it, lubed everything up really well and its great. Was dive bombing it like crazy earlier tonight and it held tune. At this price point I wasn't exactly surprised at slightly sub standard hardware and planned on replacing it anyway - What I wasn't expecting was how amazing this guitar sounds. GET ONE you will not be disappointed.
