A Real Strat. Why Settle for Less?

The Fender Standard Stratocaster is the genuine article. When Leo Fender introduced the world to his second solidbody electric guitar in 1954, nobody could possibly have known it would change the face of contemporary music forever. The design is classic! Generations of guitarists in every genre have embraced the Strat and used it to forge their signature sounds. The fast-action maple neck, the comfort-contoured alder body, three single-coil pickups, and a vintage-style synchronized tremolo - this is where the tradition began, and still carries on today in the wonderfully playable, amazingly affordable Fender Standard Stratocaster.

Fender Standard Stratocaster Features at a Glance:
  • Lightweight alder body with three-ply white pickguard and shielded body cavities
  • Vintage Style tremolo with high mass bridge block
  • Three standard, single-coil Strat pickups
  • Maple neck and fingerboard with modern "C" shape and satin polyester finish
Lightweight alder body with three-ply white pickguard and shielded body cavities

It doesn't get any more basic than this. The Standard Series Stratocaster features a lightweight, "comfort contoured" alder body which has actually changed very little since the first Strats rolled off the production lines in 1954. However, this new version actually has shielded body cavities for reduced hum and quieter operation than you'd get with a vintage 1950s Strat. A three-ply parchment pickguard completes the classic look.

Vintage-style tremolo with high mass bridge block

While there's no denying the fact that Leo Fender's guitar designs were an amazing blend of art and engineering, it was the erroneously named "Synchronized Tremolo" (it's actually a vibrato) that may well have been his most inspired bit of engineering. With it you could bend notes or even entire chords up or down without throwing the guitar out of tune. Even though Fender has continued to improve upon its synchronized trem, many players simply prefer the look and feel of the original. The Standard Strat comes with that vintage style tremolo, but adds a high mass bridge block for improved sustain and tone.

Three standard, single-coil Strat pickups

The Stratocaster was the first production line guitar with three pickups, and it's no surprise that this basic configuration is just as popular today as it was in 1954. So your new Standard Stratocaster comes from the factory with three standard Strat single-coil pickups with vintage style ceramic magnets. Way back in the 1950s and '60s, players had to carefully fiddle with their three-position blade switch to get at those quacky "in-between" pickup combinations. Don't worry. Your new Standard Strat comes with a modern five-way blade switch for instant access to all the cool Strat tones.

Maple neck and fingerboard with modern "C" shape and satin polyester finish

Leo Fender wasn't a guitar player. In fact, he got his start repairing radios. So he had no idea that guitars weren't supposed to have maple necks. In time, those blond maple necks and fingerboards became a Fender trademark, though the company eventually offered rosewood fingerboards on most of its models. This Standard Strat has a maple neck and fingerboard that helps deliver the classic Strat "spank and sparkle." In keeping with contemporary tastes, this Strat has a more modern "C" shape maple neck with a satin polyester finish.

Fender Standard Series Stratocaster Features:
  • Comfort-contoured alder body fits you like a glove
  • Modern C-shape maple neck with 9.5"-radius maple fingerboard and 21 medium-jumbo frets
  • Three standard single-coil Strat pickups
  • Pickup switching: 5-position blade
  • Vintage-style Synchronized Tremolo bridge/tailpiece
  • 3-ply parchment pickguard; parchment control knobs

A real Strat - and really affordable!

Very fun Strat

This Strat is awesome. I recommend it for anyone who wants a great Strat, but doesn't want to pay for an American Standard. I can't comment on the sound of the pickups on this (even though my friends' stock pickups sound nice) because I had Sweetwater switch them out for Custom Shop 69s before it shipped, which I love. With those this guitar sounds just as good as my American Standard, although slightly different cause of pickups. The maple neck is super smooth and just feels fast. Lake Placid Blue is awesome, I admit one of the reasons I went for this. The only issues (slight issues) were that one of the tuners seemed to slip slightly when tuning (but not enough to cause tuning issues) and the nut was a bit high so just felt weird sliding with my thumb, but again, no a big problem, just had to get used to it. These are minor issues considering you're paying half the price of an American Standard. I ended up changing the tuners to Fender locking tuners, the nut to TUSQ XL, and the whole bridge/tremolo to a Callaham MIM Strat upgrade. I had pre-bought those already when I bought the guitar, so it had nothing to do with a lack of quality on the Strat's part. That is why I recommend this guitar for anyone. If you don't want to shell out the money for an American Standard, you can get this for half the price, and it's a great guitar. Then, over time, you can upgrade what you want slowly over time, if need be. After upgrading pretty much everything on it, the price came to roughly that of, or slightly cheaper than, an American Standard and it sounds just as good as the American. Excellent guitar.Great thanks again to Jason Koons and his crew for hooking me up with a sweet guitar. Can't wait to buy from them again.
Music background: Played for many years, but more seriously in recent years.
