A Real Strat at a Really Great Price!

The Fender Standard Strat solidbody electric guitar brings you a legendary design and timeless tone at a great price! When Leo Fender introduced the world to his newest creation, the Stratocaster, nobody could possibly have known it would change the face of contemporary music forever. Now it's back to the basics with the Standard Strat! With a fast-action maple neck, a comfort-contoured alder body, three single-coil pickups, and standard synchronized tremolo - this is where the tradition began and still carries on today in the surprisingly playable, affordable Standard Series Stratocaster.

Fender Standard Stratocaster Features at a Glance:
  • Lightweight alder body with parchment pickguard and shielded body cavities
  • Vintage-style tremolo with high mass bridge block
  • Three standard single-coil Strat pickups
  • Maple neck and fingerboard with modern C-shape and satin polyester finish

Lightweight alder body with parchment pickguard and shielded body cavities
It doesn't get any more basic than this. The Standard Series Stratocaster features a lightweight, comfort-contoured alder body, which has actually changed very little since the first Strats rolled off the production lines in 1954. However, this new version actually has shielded body cavities for reduced hum and quieter operation than you'd get with a vintage 1950s Strat. A parchment pickguard and control knobs add a classy touch, and the '70s-style logo provides a vintage vibe. Oh, and that low sticker price is pretty nice, too.

Vintage-style tremolo with high mass bridge block
While there's no denying the fact that Leo Fender's guitar designs were an amazing blend of art and engineering, it was the erroneously named synchronized tremolo (it's actually a vibrato) that may well have been his most inspired bit of engineering. With it you could bend notes or even entire chords up or down without throwing the guitar out of tune. Even though Fender has continued to improve upon the tremolo, many players simply prefer the look and feel of the original. The Standard Strat comes with that vintage style tremolo but adds a high mass bridge block for improved sustain and tone.

Three standard single-coil Strat pickups
The Stratocaster was the first production line guitar with three pickups, and it's no surprise that this basic configuration is just as popular today as it was in 1954. So your new Standard Stratocaster comes from the factory with three standard Strat single-coil pickups with vintage-style ceramic magnets. Way back in the '50s and '60s, players had to carefully fiddle with their 3-position blade switch to get those in between pickup combinations. Don't worry. Your new Standard Strat comes with a modern 5-way blade switch for instant access to all the cool Strat tones.

Maple neck and fingerboard with modern C-shape and satin polyester finish
Leo Fender wasn't a guitar player. In fact, he got his start repairing radios. So he had no idea that guitars weren't supposed to have maple necks. In time, those blonde maple necks and fingerboards became a Fender trademark, though the company eventually offered rosewood fingerboards on most of its models. This Standard Strat has a maple neck and fingerboard that helps deliver the classic Strat spank and sparkle. In keeping with contemporary tastes, this Strat has a more modern C-shape maple neck with a satin polyester finish on the back and a gloss finish on the fretboard and headstock.

Fender Standard Series Stratocaster Features:
  • Candy apple red color
  • Alder body with polyester finish
  • Maple modern C-shape neck
  • Fender/Ping standard machine heads
  • 25.5" scale length
  • Maple fingerboard
  • 21 medium-jumbo frets
  • Dot inlays
  • 3 standard Strat single-coil pickups
  • 5-position blade for pickup switching
  • Vintage-style tremolo with high mass bridge block
  • Chrome hardware

The Fender Standard Strat gives you a legendary instrument that's surprisingly affordable!

Great Value

I own two strats, both Mexican made & both of them I like very much. This one is my favorite though. Not sure if it's because of the maple neck or not (the other one I own is black & rosewood neck) but I'm really glad I pulled the trigger on this one. At first, before I bought it, I thought I'd buy it & upgrade the pups & hardware, but once I got it I loved it so much I didn't want to touch anything. It really is a tone machine. 5 way pup switch is awesome. Cheap, durable, reliable - it's like the AK-47 of guitars. Fender keeps jacking the price up each year because people are starting to come around. Sure the American ones are great quality, no doubt about it but the Mexican is great if you're on a budget. I will never give up mine & this is coming from a guy that has $2,000 guitars.

Incredible Instrument for the Price

This strat is one heck of a guitar for the money. The tone is clear, the pickups are very strong, it stays in tune, and the action and intonation were spot on right out of the box. On top of all that, the candy apple red finish is beautiful, esp. with the maple fretboard. I never thought I'd get this much guitar for the money. If you're in the market for a strat, and don't have 1200 bucks to drop, look no farther than this beautiful guitar.

Fender Strat MIM

Listen here foks, this strat is unbelievable really. I would like to give it 10 stars but i'm only allowed 5. When Sweetwater says it's ready to play out of the box they are spot on. Get this, I stopped at a local guitar dealer in the area to try out a couple pedals they gave me an American Strat 70's era with a price tag of 1850 on it. IT SUCKED compaired to the one I just bout at sweetwater. Make no mistake this particualr MIM Fender Strat Standard is an absolute ACE of an ax. Just buy it plain and simple
Music background: playing for 40 years, professionally playing for 35!

Beautiful Guitar

After 20 years, I decided to take up playing the guitar again. But not just any guitar. I had to have a Fender Stratocaster. I would liked to have bought an Eric Clapton Custom Shop Strat, but finances wouldn't allow it. So I settled for a Fender Standard Strat in Candy Apple Red. Did I say settled? To be truthful, I couldn't be happer with this guitar. The finish and workmanship are excellent and the sound is fantastic! I've already blocked the tremolo and am considering some wiring mods, but she is absolutely stunning as is. Its great to be playing again, and great to be playing a genuine Fender Strat. Gotta go. I can hear her calling my name!
Music background: I just like to play and have fun.
