HSH pickup configuration delivers versatile, supercharged tone

For this Standard Stratocaster HSH solidbody electric guitar, Fender changed out two of its typical Stratocaster single-coil pickups for a pair of Blacktop open-coil humbuckers, giving you loads of tonal variations. You can coax anything from classic glassy-clean Fender tones to aggressive, throaty humbucker tones out of these flexible tone machines. If that wasn't enough, you also get a coil-splitting push-pull switch built into this guitar's tone knob, giving you even more tonal versatility. This Standard Stratocaster HSH was designed to be a flexible guitar that's ready for any situation.

Maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with modern C-shape and satin urethane finish

Leo Fender wasn't a guitar player. In fact, he got his start repairing radios. So he had no idea that guitars weren't supposed to have maple necks. In time, those blonde maple necks and fingerboards became a Fender trademark, though the company eventually offered rosewood fingerboards on most of its models. This Fender Standard Stratocaster HSH solidbody electric guitar has the maple neck, but adds the rosewood fingerboard for a warmer, more traditional sound, look, and feel. In keeping with contemporary tastes, this Strat has a more modern C-shaped maple neck with a satin urethane finish.

The Fender Strat - an icon of modern music

First introduced in 1954, the Fender Stratocaster has become an icon of modern music. Rock, country, blues - you'll find a Strat at the heart of just about every musical genre. The distinctive Stratocaster design approaches the realm of modern art. The almost infinitely variable tones are achieved by using a number of combinations of single-coil and humbucking pickups. The roster of notable Stratocaster players includes surf rock pioneer Dick Dale, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, John Frusciante, Mark Knopfler, Yngwie Malmsteen, and hundreds more.

Fender Standard Stratocaster HSH Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • HSH pickup configuration delivers versatile, supercharged tone
  • Coil-splitting push-pull switch gives you plenty of tonal versatility
  • Alder body provides you with a great-sounding complexity of tones
  • Modern C-shape neck profile serves up outstanding feel
  • 9.5" radius fingerboard with medium-jumbo frets lets you bend up high without fretting out
This Fender Standard Stratocaster HSH solidbody electric guitar delivers everything from mean to clean!

Where this guitar been hiding?

I had a stratacaster back in the 80s wasn't really happy with the sound or quality of the guitar, had reservation About buying another one. After playing gibson LP's for 40 yrs I again wanted a new sound the strat HSH seemed the best choice wasn't happy it was Mexi made but really like the color I am very pleased with the sound, feel, and quality. Glad I made the purchase. Love this guitar! !!!!
Music background: 40 year's playing southern rock, blues

Great Guitar at a Great Price

I chose this guitar partly for the unique pickup configuration. It's like having two guitars in one. I received the Ghost Silver and could not be more pleased with my purchase. The picture doesn't do justice. I would call it "metallic" silver. Great color choice and perfect finish. Nothing compares to holding the craftsmanship of a genuine Strat in your hands and being a part of the longstanding Fender community. This is a top quality, professional instrument made in the Mexican factory, not a toy let alone an "only beginner's guitar." The guitar was packed carefully. Upon inspection, this is set up perfectly and ready to play out of the box, except for slight retuning of course due to transit shuffling. Action is great, pickup height is good, intonation is spot on, neck is adjusted fine, bridge height and saddles are within specs, frets are smooth and even. Even the Fender strings already installed are good (though I'll change them later to my Blue Steels). Highly recommended!

Very nice!

I was kind of weary about the color, but needed not be, it is a kind of silver that under certain lights looks like a well worn stainless steel thing, simply beautiful. Mexican Fenders really have an amazing level of quality, and this is no exception. I hadn´t planned on this one, but as a constant reviewer of Sweetwater´s Deal Zone, the price on my Demo was simply absurd :-) Awesome sound, with the addition that because of this having a coil splitting option, actually you can have a traditional SSS Strat sound in this one, plus another guitar with very nice sounding humbuckers, I really love their sound. The other thing I love is that, unlike other medium priced Fenders, the back of the neck is NOT glossy, fortunately they left it alone, and in my opinion, they look classier (now this neck feels very similar to my US Made NItro Satin Strat). Love the bent steel saddles, not a great fan of the modern Strat saddles. I noticed there is not much review of this model, what you mainly see on the web is referred to the Blacktop, which I understand is a totally different sounding guitar. As I read somewhere, the Blacktop´s PU´s are not the same this HSH carry. So for all of you who go around life saying "a humbucking Strat is not a real Strat" go ahead and think out of the box. This very reasonable priced Strat is staying!

Great Guitar

I bought this guitar to reduce the number of guitars I had to take to shows. I couldn't be happier. The guitar was set up perfect out of the box just needed tuned. The humbuckers sound great as do the single coil. The pull switch on the tone knob gives you two guitars in one. I love having the humbucker sound in the light weight strat body. And for the price you can't go wrong with this one. The costumer service at sweetwater is the best. the only place to buy music gear..

Nice Strat

Sweetwater has renewed my faith with on-line guitar shopping. The weight added to the personal description for me is a plus, Thanks First I want to say the MIM Standard line is vastly improved as the routes of the Trem cavity and pick-ups are vastly improved and clean, The HSH used an older style US Standard swimming pool route, The string paths and fret is exceptional on the guitar purchased. I couldn't have asked for anything better on any guitar. The trem used is a vintage style which is also an improvement as opposed to what the MIM Standards previously used or possibly still do save this model. The electronics are very well thought out and balance very well in all positions electronically. As to is ALL will like these pickups specifically is "subjective", however, the humbuckers are Alnico and the Single Coil ceramic. Pots, switch and so forth are all very good quality. Bottom line is the Strat is an impressive guitar and especially in this price range. For me it was a matter of adding a set of 10-46 and readjusting the trem and action and pick-up heights. Which I do all the time anyway. Anyway, I hope this serves as a mora accurate description for others thinking of a purchase. Thanks
