The looks and feel of a well-loved instrument
The Stratocaster really came into its own in the 1960s, with players coaxing unbelievable sounds from it amid punishing stage shows and grueling tours. Beaten, bruised and even burned, they only got better as the years wore on-looking even cooler and feeling even more comfortable. Now you can get the looks and feel of a well-used '60s-spec Strat in a brand-new guitar! The Road Worn '60s Strat backs up those authentic looks with great playing feel and the kind of tonality you'd expect from a pick-of-the-litter vintage instrument.

Classic-sounding pickups with a kick
Designed to give you the kind of clear, transparent highs you want from a Stratocaster while adding increased output and warmth, Fender's Tex-Mex single-coil pickups add a little kick to your tone when you need it. These classic-looking pickups use Alnico 5 magnets and work just like standard Strat pickups. They provide the perfect complement to this great guitar!

Sweet guitar!

Great guitar. Came set up very nice, a couple slight adjustments made it perfect for me. Tex mex pickups sound great. Feels and looks amazing. Couldn't be more pleased.

Tone to the Bone

No better Stratocaster available. It looks good, plays great with tall frets and a 7.5'' radius rosewood & maple neck, and the sound is terrific with Tex Mex pickups. It feels like well worn in blue jeans. One can ask for nothing more from a Stratocaster.

Excellent value for the money

I purchased this model because I wanted to experience the thrill of owning a beat up, well weathered Strat without having to spend a fortune. You will read mixed reviews on this guitar, but keep in mind that most of them are based on Fender's first production of this model. Things have changed since. The finish on the back of the neck is worn this time. Previously, the finish was worn but then lacquered over to protect it leaving no difference in feel. You can now feel the worn area of the neck and it feel very comfortable, like a favorite pair of old shoes. The body distress has been toned down. The cookie cutter wear mark on the forearm area has been replaced by a more subtle, thinner mark. The "smoked" edges of the pickguard are gone, replaced by a more realistic, cleaner mint version. I personally love the sound of the TexMex pickups. They are grittier and have some bite. I REALLY like this guitar. It sounds good, looks good and most importantly, feels great. Yes, you can get an American Standard for just a little more, and I own a few, but it's not going to feel this comfortable, or look this classic. You can get a vintage reissue for close to $2000, but it's not going to be "worn". You can get a Custom Shop Strat made to your specifications, if you have the money to invest. The bottom line is this: if you want a very good guitar that has a great "vibe" to it and would prefer NOT to spend thousands, this is an excellent value. Even though it's a MIM, I think you'll be pleased. I was definitely impressed. Don't let others tell you what you what you HAVE to play. And, as always, buy it from Sweetwater. You can choose your guitar and you cannot beat the customer service!

Great guitar

I couldn't find one in the area to try out, so I ordered this guitar blind without getting to play one first. When it came I was very pleased with the looks and feel. As expected, the action was too high, but playable. It needed a slight truss rod adjustment, but now it is smooth and low. The Tex-mex pickups are a bit rough and raspy for some people's taste, but with the guitar's volume at 7 I really like the sound I'm getting. One of the fret wires stuck out a bit on the side of the neck and had to be worn down a little. Rarely does a guitar come set up well, so none of that is a surprise. Little issues aside, this is a great guitar, the relic process is impeccable. If you've ever wanted to own a vintage instrument without breaking the bank, this is a great way to come as close as possible.
