Yes, Now You Can Own and Play Jimmy Vaughan's Guitar

While he's not the guitar superstar that his brother the late Stevie Ray Vaughan was, Jimmie has nonetheless carved out a special place in modern music for himself with his blistering hot tone. The Jimmie Vaughan Tex-Mex Strat guitar features an alder body, a specially shaped and tinted maple neck equipped with medium-jumbo frets, vintage hardware, and a single-ply white pickguard. Single-coil Tex-Mex pickups occupy the neck and middle positions and an extra-hot Tex-Mex bridge pickup with special wiring adds just the right amount of extra spice and bite. Best of all, this Jimmie Vaughan Strat comes with a shockingly low Sweetwater price!

Fender Jimmie Vaughan Artist Series Stratocaster at a Glance:
  • Just like Jimmie's own guitar
  • Blistering roadhouse blues sound
  • Fast-playing maple neck with soft V shape
Just like Jimmie's own guitar

When you think of the classic, searing hot roadhouse blues Strat sound, that's exactly the tone Jimmie Vaughan prefers. It's a bit dirty - though not to the point of true distortion - and it's bite is as sharp as razor wire! If that's the sound you're after and you aren't particularly keen on emptying your bank account to get it, then this is unquestionably the guitar for you! The olympic white polyurethane finish gives this Strat a classic look, and the custom-contoured body makes it amazingly comfortable to play whether you're sitting or standing. The American Vintage synchronized tremolo tailpiece lets you bend notes or entire chords up or down with remarkable tuning stability. The bottom line is clear: this is a Strat that delivers the superior tone and playability you want at a price that's sure to please!

Blistering roadhouse blues sound

The original Strat had three single-coil pickups, so it was able to produce sounds that no other guitar could deliver - particularly once players discovered they could lodge the 3-position blade switch in those in between positions to access different combinations. These were often erroneously referred to as the out-of-phase settings. The Jimmie Vaughan Strat comes standard with a modern 5-way blade switch, making it easy to access all the pickup combinations. To deliver on the promise of a blistering hot roadhouse blues sound, there are two Tex-Mex calibrated, overwound single coils in the neck and middle positions, along with a specially wound Tex-Mex Hot Bridge single coil. It's the perfect blend of classic Strat spank and sparkle along with a searing hot lead sound in any of the five pickup positions that will cut through any mix.

Fast-playing maple neck with soft V shape

Leo Fender wasn't afraid to think outside the box when it came to guitar designs - after all, he was an engineer, not a guitar player. In the 1950s and well into the 1970s, the blonde natural maple neck became almost synonymous with Fender guitars. The Jimmie Vaughan Stratocaster comes with a 1-piece, tinted maple neck and fingerboard so you get the authentic vintage look of a guitar that's played a thousand weekend gigs at hot, smoky clubs and bars. Next, add 21 medium-jumbo frets and Jimmie's personal favorite soft V shape. In keeping with contemporary player preferences, the fast-playing neck is finished in a smooth satin polyurethane.

Perfect Fit, Perfect Sound, Perfect Look

First let me say this. The customer service at Sweetwater is unmatched. My Sales Engineer Roq M. is exceptional. He always makes the buying experience better. Fantastic communication and great to work with. Now on to the guitar. This is a guitar that I owned previously when I was much younger, over 15 years ago. I quit guitar and made the mistake of selling it. But I never forgot about it. It always stayed in the back of my mind. Like an ex-girlfiend you just can't forget. Well she's back and I'm still in love. The neck's soft v shape is the perfect fit for my hands. Like it was custom made. The tex-mex pickups are sound so spicy. Great for the type of music I'm aiming for. The looks are stunning. The olympic white is beautiful. Can't wait to see what she'll look like in 10+ years.

One of the best Strat out there at a great price

Jimmie Vaughan Strat has an outstanding neck and sounds awesome in clean tones. Playability is exceptional. I was looking around for a strat last 3 months that plays great and comes at a reasonable price point. And Jimmie Vaughan Strat fits my need perfectly. I am very happy with the purchase. Received exceptional service from Sweetwater during the entire purchase process. Sales Engineer Ryan Clapper helped in every step of the buying process and the guitar was in my hand the very next day of my order. What an exceptional service. You guys rock !!

Addition to previous review

After talking to people and some research I found out the problem I'm having happens once and a while. I just happened to get the one out of a hundred.. If I was looking for a strat I would consider a JV strat again . A flawless one would be 5 stars for sure. Really does have a great neck and hardware. And of course Sweetwater rocks..

Fender JV Strat

I received my JV Strat and could not be happier. The neck action is outstanding, fit my hand like a glove. The tones from the Tex-Mex pups go from smooth to rocking on demand. I cannot say enough about the Sweetwater process and the amazing help I got from Charlie Davis. Outstanding process all around. Sweetwater in now my go to resource for all things guitar.

Great Guitar

I have owned my JV Strat since 2002. It has aged wonderfully both in looks and sound. The color is turning that wonderful yellowish gold and the sounds still remains bitey but also oh so smooth when you need. The finish on the body has not cracked, the satin finish on the neck has remained mostly intact (normal wear) and fretwear has been as exptected. This is my go to guitar and I will never part with it.
