An American Strat at an Amazing Price!

Fender's American Special Stratocaster solidbody electric guitar gives you popular Strat features at a price that's nearly unheard of for a US-made Fender. It all starts with an alder body for classic Strat spank, and it's all wrapped up in a great-looking gloss urethane finish. The Fender trademark maple neck feels great with its Modern C profile, and jumbo frets make for fast and precise fretwork. In the tone department, a trio of Texas Special single-coils dish out the chime while a vintage-style trem deals with the whammy action. You're going to love the Fender American Special Stratocaster.

The American Special Stratocaster gives you a great selection of cool Strat features, including a supremely playable maple neck/fingerboard with jumbo frets, three Texas Special single-coils, Fender's innovative Greasebucket tone control, a vintage-style synchronized tremolo, and a large '70s-style headstock. All in, it's quite a potent music-delivery system. And it's made right here in the USA in Fender's state-of-the-art Corona, California, factory.

Cut through the mix

You're sure to cut through the mix, thanks to a trio of Fender's Texas Special single-coils. Used in any one of the five possible switch positions, the pickups give you classic Fender tones that have been with us since the dawn of the Strat. But these pickups have a little something extra that sets the American Special Strat apart from previous Strat incarnations - a Greasebucket tone circuit and vintage-style tremolo round out the features on this beauty. If you're looking for an American-made Strat with unbeatable bang for the buck, it's the American Special Stratocaster!

Greasebucket tone control rolls off highs without affecting volume

Fender has fitted the American Special Stratocaster with their Greasebucket tone control, which rolls off highs without adding bass or affecting your volume. This is seriously cool, because it gives you explicit control over your tone onstage without your having to compensate for volume loss. It makes the American Special Strat a serious tone machine.

Excellent Quality American Strat

I've been wanting a plain SSS American Stratocaster, I don't need much, I've just wanted something to get those Strat sounds; this guitar does it. I've enjoyed playing the clean bridge and neck tones from "The Unforgiven" by Metallica, the bridge tone from "Give it Away" by RHCP, and "Subterranean Homesick Alien" by Radiohead in the middle position on the pickup switch. I'm playing through a Roland JC-40 and it sounds great. I have yet to play distorted music with this guitar, but if the '90s taught me anything, I might find a use for that Big Muff that I have sitting around. I like larger frets so I was excited to have jumbo frets and I'm also very happy with the satin finish on the neck; I'm not accustomed to thin strings so I had the 9-gauge string set removed and a 10-gauge set installed along with a proper setup to ensure everything was inline and I've been satisfied. I'm very pleased with how well this guitar plays and sounds.

American Special Stratocaster

I have toured the Fender production facility in Corona, and I saw the quality control procedures that are employed at the factory in the production of American-made guitars. So when it was time to purchase a Strat, I decided to buy American. Price and features were the primary factors for me, which led me to the American Special. Didn’t need a bunch of bells and whistles to jack up the price. Love the satin-finish neck, which I have on my other Fender guitar. The jumbo frets allow me to get a little skin under the string for stronger pull-offs, and also allow for a bit of a lighter touch. I am indifferent to the Texas Special pickups, as I was looking for a bit of a more classic Strat sound, although the pickups are very versatile: nice clean, nice twang, nice raunch. Plenty of punch. Overall, the fit and finish are absolutely superb—it is obviously well-made and perfectly assembled. I have been playing this guitar for about a month now and I am extremely happy with it. It is a kick to play, and that is the factor that matters the most to me. Your mileage may vary depending upon the features that you are looking for, but this guitar is a great fit for me. It was a bit nerve-wracking to buy a guitar that I have not held in my hands and played. But I looked pretty closely at the Sweetwater terms of service and decided to go for it. Service was excellent. My man John Short shipped the guitar the same day that I made the order. Arrived on time. The action needed a tweak, no doubt from shipping clear across the country in the summer heat, so John put me in touch with one of the Sweetwater techs to talk about how to dial it in perfectly. The point here is that not everything goes perfectly all the time, but if there is a glitch you can count on the Sweetwater folks to go the extra mile to make sure that it is taken care of and that you are a happy customer. There are a lot of places that I can spend my musical equipment dollar, but I can’t imagine doing business with any firm other than Sweetwater.

Wicked Screamer

Bought this guitar without having played it - something I never do... And, I have no regrets. The frets take a little getting used to, but after an hour of jamming with it, I love it. The neck and frets feel great (again, once you get used to them), and I am able to do some crazy bends without fretting out. The bridge was already adjusted, and I was pretty surprised how much abuse the whammy bar would take before it went out of tune - dive bombs and surfer sway til the cows came home! I have to admit, I love how it looks - perfect white, it almost glows - and the headstock is just incredible. Through any of my amps (Fender, Peavey, and once for kicks through a FIshman acoustic) and straight into my DAW, it sounds amazing. Sure, some 60 hum, but that's to be expected. The Tone Circuit (whatever the hell they call it thing that does stuff), gives an immense tonal range without gettting muddy or thin. What can I say, this thing is my dream Strat!

Great Strat

So I've had this guitar for about 6 months now and i am still amazed by this guitar. It has become of the favorites in my little collection of guitars. I love the neck of this guitar, it has a satin neck which plays like a dream, its so smooth. I love the look of the headstock. The pickups sound amazing, and with what i play i don't notice a whole lot of noise, like what happens with most single coils. I love the grease bucket tone controls its amazing all of the sounds that you can get out of this amazing instrument. When I unboxed it and to this day it is still flawless. The only thing that I did change from stock was locking tuners, which was an easy fix.I'm so glad i found this guitar, i would recommend this to anyone.

Great guitar

The guitar is great, shipping was very good, the only thing I could mention is that the strings on my new guitar were rusty but other than that everything was great
