Timeless Style Updated for the 21st Century

Over a dozen new innovations, like fourth-generation noiseless pickups and high-mass, full-sustain saddles, conspire to make the American Elite Stratocaster one of the best modern Strats for the money. The classic tone cocktail of an alder body and maple neck provides the same punch, bite, and twang that built Fender's empire, but the expanded 10-way S-1 pickup switching system and onboard Shawbucker humbucker with Passing Lane boost will give even veteran Strat players reason to upgrade. Fender's tremolo system is also better than ever for the American Elite, with a smoother response and a copper-infused bridge plate to help fight tuning slippage.

Fender American Elite Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Fender Stratocaster: the look and sound of rock 'n' roll
  • Two noiseless single-coils plus a Shawbucker humbucker for versatile tone options
  • No-slip tremolo bridge adds texture to chords and leads
Fender Stratocaster: the look and sound of rock 'n' roll

The Fender Stratocaster has helped shape the sound of rock 'n' roll for the past 60 years, from psychedelia and surf rock to punk rock and metal. The Fender American Elite carries on that tradition today with the classic build players love - a comfortable, lightweight alder body and fast maple neck for superior tone and playability - with over a dozen new innovations to continue to inspire great music for the next generation.

Two noiseless single-coils plus a Shawbucker humbucker for versatile tone options

Sweetwater Fender fanatics are impressed with the arsenal of tones found in this Strat. Fourth-generation noiseless single-coils give the American Elite the classic Strat sound without the hum and buzz. And for a gutsier tone, the onboard Shawbucker bridge humbucker, created by Fender pickup guru Tim Shaw, delivers vintage-inspired heft and thickness. The American Elite's S-1 switching gives you 10 total pickup options - which include running all three pickups in series - with the push of a button. And when you need a boost, a Passing Lane button near the tone pot connects the Shawbucker directly to the output jack for mind-melting leads.

No-slip tremolo bridge adds texture to chords and leads

The quintessential Fender tremolo is now even better. The American Elite moves from shimmery chords to distinct vibrato and beyond with a natural response that won't strain your hand. You can dive-bomb confidently thanks to a set of locking tuners on one end and a high-mass, copper-infused bridge plate on the other to help fight tuning slippage.

Fender American Elite Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar Features:
  • Fender noiseless single-coil pickups (4th generation) in neck and middle positions
  • Shawbucker bridge humbucker delivers vintage-styled beefiness
  • S-1 switching provides 10 pickup options for exciting new tones
  • Passing Lane button bypasses tone and volume pots for controlled chaos
  • Select alder body for light weight and a punchy, balanced sound
  • C-shaped compound maple neck with a fast satin finish and heel contour
  • Rosewood fretboard provides a woody tone and quick response
  • Tremolo bridge adds texture to chords and leads
  • High-mass saddles for added chime and sustain
  • Locking tuners for tuning stability and quick string changes
  • Includes strap locks, pop-in trem arm, and adjustment wrenches

Best playing and sounding Strat Ever

Couldn't be happier with this purchase. Extreme versatility of tones and feels/plays great. The Shawbucker in the bridge position is perfect, very smooth and sweet sounding humbucker. The new N4 Noiseless Single Coils truly do sound better - more open / less compressed - than the N3's (I have a 2014 American Deluxe with N3's and A/B'd - very noticeable improvement). The new compound radius neck is the best Fender neck IMHO so far, and the S1 switch just adds more options. The "turbo" button is super-handy too. That's probably my favorite feature. Use Case: Have a nice rhythm tone dialed in, need to do a quick full-on lead and want that exactly rhythm tone back when your lead ends? The turbo button is the ticket. Bypasses the pots, routes the signal directly to the Shawbucker wide-open. One touch and voila! Great idea. The only thing I would do differently (and it's not enough to bring the rating down from my 5 star rave, but....) - I'd put the turbo button closer to the volume pot. Sometimes I have to hunt for it. I'm sure I'll get use to it eventually. Special shout-out to my Sweetwater engineer - Ben Porter - for helping me through yet another great purchase on a superb guitar and always being completely available for questions, ideas and what-if dialogues. Done a lot of deals with Ben over the years. Couldn't be happier with this guitar, Sweetwater and the great support I get from Ben Porter.

Really good guitar

I got this HSS Stratocaster a few months ago, but I played it awhile before giving a review. I feel it's a solid guitar. I happen to really like the compound radius neck, though I read some people gave bad reviews on them. I feel it is the best of both worlds, when it comes to chording & soloing. I like the Shawbucker, too, I mostly play this one now, rather than my other single- coil Strat. Between the Shawbucker and the S-1 switching, it has so many new tones to give. I picked this up right when Fender came out with the "elite" series. The only difference I notice between last year model and the elite is the deletion of the LSR roller nut. I saw so many tuning complaints about that, I was glad it was gone when I was able to buy it. I dealt with a salesman named Joshua from Sweetwater when I ordered mine. I never brought a guitar from the Internet before this. He calmed my worries and sent it straight to me. I have no problems with making my purchases through Sweetwater again.
