Nitrocellulose lacquer finish for classic looks and sound

This Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster wears a gorgeous nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Nitro finishes (standard back in the day) are significantly thinner than today's polyurethane finishes, allowing the guitar to breathe. Nitro finishes not only look vintage-y wonderful; they also enhance the instrument's tonal qualities. This guitar has the look (and feel) of a well-aged classic.

Maple neck with rosewood fingerboard delivers buttery playability

Leo Fender was a radio technician not a luthier, so goes the "excuse" for why his first round of guitars sported maple necks without separate fingerboards. At the beginning of the tumultuous '60s, Fender started offering rosewood fingerboards on its instruments. Much has been said about the relative sonic merits of maple vs. rosewood. Although rosewood-capped necks are undeniably warmer sounding, Mr. Fender's reasoning, according to legend, behind the move to rosewood was simply that he didn't like the visible wear on the maple. Players of all genres immediately lined up on both sides of the debate, which rages on. If you're a rosewood fan, the Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Lacquer, with its maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, is for you.

This axe has the right stuff at the right price

The Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Lacquer has the right stuff at the right price. It plays like butter, and it gives you a massive range of incredible tone suitable for even the most vigorous genre hoppers. Factor in its gorgeous lacquer finish (the last link in the authenticity chain), and you know you're getting one heck of a deal. When the stage lights hit this '60s Strat, your fans in the first few rows will be drooling. Especially if they skipped dinner.

The guitar was very well manufactured, beautifully finished, and has that 60's legendary tone. The setup on the action was spot on. Just a great guitar to play and admire. The only nit pick is the aged lacquer on the sides of the nut, barely noticeable. Would high recommend to anybody looking for that 60's style strat.

This guitar is amazing in every way! from the finish down to the sound of the pickups and the neck shape, everything is perfect. There's not much else to say but thank you to sweetwater and my buddy Mike who greatly helped me along the way. BUY THIS GUITAR! IT'S A STEAL FOR WHAT IT IS!

Lacquer Strat

I rarely would right a review, but seeing there isn't one here let me be the first. Starting with the fact that the fit and finish is perfect! There is no lack of quality here. Mine has a 2 piece body that looks like the luthier hand picked the pieces not just thrown together .The neck pocket to body is so tight that paper might slide between! I cant believe the level of craftsman ship on this guitar, the finish is flawless and buffed to a mirror shine. It has the rounded 60s type neck and the fret are polished smooth,I cant say enough about how good the set up is,maybe it was the guys at sweetwater but the action is great and intonation perfect. all the little details a great ,the cut on pickgaurd for truss adjustment and aged pickup covers look great. Now for the sound..it sounds well just like a strat, really the pick ups are not squeeling all the time either very nice balance, they definitely have the start sting. To compare I have a 2004 MIM gold 50s strat and those pickups are so noisy that you have to be all over the volume knob to keep them in check.,These are much better almost like the noiseless type. Also I have a American Deluxe and there is really no way to compare the 2. I will say that I should change the 50s strat to noiseless but the 60s strat pickups are great. They get a great Rory Gallagher sound /bite. also you do get a hard-shell Guitar case, It is the Fender pro series, It has always bothered me how guitars don't come with a case!! The laquer Strat is a great guitar and with the case and set up you wont be disappointed

Vintage Vibe

I received my guitar yesterday evening, wasn't too thrilled that Fed Ex had dropped and broke a case of wine all over the box that my guitar was in; luckily Sweetwater had packaged my guitar in two boxes and no harm was done. The Stratocaster is beautiful, very vintage correct. Sounds good and plays good. My only complaint is the slightly sloppy tint job done at the factory. both sides of the nut as well as several frets are tinted orange from the finish. Other than that, I'm happy. Big thanks to Mike for helping me out with my purchase and the timely delivery. He is truly a professional and I will be purchasing more products from Sweetwater. Definitely a happy customer.

60s Lacquer Strat

Received my Strat quickly, no surprise for Sweetwater, the guitar is really nice I like it a lot the only issue I have and it is totally cosmetic is the end of the frets and the nut are colored from the tinting Fender puts on the neck to make it look aged, does not effect playability it just looks like they may have rushed the finishing process, Fender should slow down and take a little more time in their final finish. The body finish is perfect.
