Affordable Vintage Vibe

Fender's Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer sports a classic '50s vibe. In the era of diners and cars with fins, the Strat was king of solidbody electric guitars. Still is. The comfort-contoured alder body, the soft V tinted maple neck, the single-ply pickguard with three single-coil pickups, the vintage-style vibrato; it's all there and dressed in a gorgeous, period-correct nitrocellulose laquer finish. If smooth playability, eye-poppin' vintage looks, and legendary spank and sparkle are on your guitar gotta-have list, hook up with Fender's Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer.

Fender Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer Solidbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:

  • Fender's classic soft V maple neck for exceptional playability

  • Period-correct appointments, with a few modern touches
  • Nitrocellulose lacquer finish for classic looks and sound
Fender's classic soft V maple neck for exceptional playability

The Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer gives you the smooth playability and exquisite control of Fender's classic soft V maple neck. Fender's V-profile necks have legions of aficionados for whom there is no other neck shape. If you've wondered what all the fuss is about, here's your (affordable) chance to find out. If we're preaching to the choir, welcome home!

Period-correct appointments, with a few modern touches

This guitar is put together. From its 7.25"-radius maple fingerboard with 21 vintage-style frets and black-dot inlays to its trio of vintage-style single-coil pickups with staggered alnico pole pieces, this puppy oozes '50s vibe. It even comes with a classic Tweed case. But don't think this Strat is stuck in the past. Modern wiring and 5-way switching give you quiet operation onstage and in the studio and truckloads of tonal options.

Nitrocellulose lacquer finish for classic looks and sound

This Fender Classic Series '50s Stratocaster wears a gorgeous nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Nitro finishes (standard back in the day) are significantly thinner than today's polyurethane finishes, allowing the guitar to breathe. Nitro finishes not only look vintage-y wonderful; they also enhance the instrument's tonal qualities. This guitar has the look (and feel) of a well-aged classic.

More than expected.

So, I usually don't bother writing a review, not sure how many can be trusted. I have owned a 57 American vintage Stratocaster as well as a couple of American standard Strats. All B.S. aside, the guitar Chris, my sales engineer shipped to me is AS GOOD as any of the Strats I have previously owned. Nice action, the trim on mine is as smooth as silk and, the darn thing stays in tune. The pickups on this has that classic Stratocaster spank to them. All in all, I am VERY happy with the Axe I received. Thanks Chris and thank you Sweetwater.

Fender 50's lacquer strat

This guitar is absolutely amazing. To start, the finish is outstanding. There is a slight sparkle to the red colour, and it gives it a very pleasing and high end look. The nitrocellulose lacquer is nice to the touch, and is perfect for anyone wanting to relic their guitar, although is a great option for everyone. The neck has a nice darker, richer look. It is a gloss neck and fretboard, which not everyone likes, but the nitrocellulose is easier to sand down than polyurethane for anyone who wants to make that modification. The pickups covers and knobs are faded nicely, and give it a nice vintage look. It sounds just as good as it looks. The pickups sound very good, and the addition of the 5-way switch allows it to be very versatile. People who say the MIM fenders aren't as good as MIA fenders obviously haven't played one of these. The customer service is also great, and they work one on one with you, which is very nice and helpful. If there is one thing everyone should know about this guitar, it's that it isn't hum cancelling in positions 2 and 4, which I personally feel gives it a better tone, but I know some people don't prefer that. Overall, just an incredible value and an outstanding instrument.

Sweet axe!

I've owned several Strats in my life, and this blows everything away. This has the best neck ever....USA, Mexico, Japan, period.the pickups kill as well!

Fender Classic series '50's strat

I have to give 5 stars because it was a great experience buying this strat and playing it because I am not a "strat guy" at all. I was lured into this model because of the color and mystic of a 50's sounding strat. So after some hesitation, I laid the money down and sat back. I was impressed with the quality as well as the sound. Whoever says that Mexican made strats are not comparable to American made strats is just wrong!

Outstanding!

I had originally ordered the 60's series lacquer, but cancelled it and ordered this model. I first played a Strat in 1961. and have been search ever since for "that sound." I have the 50's tele lacquer, and because of this guitar, I got this one. Shades of Buddy Holly!! The 2nd and 4th positions are to die for! The pickups sound close to the fat 50's in my 2012 Sienna Sunburst! I play through a 65 deluxe reverb and a peavey Delta Blues. With the reverb on, playing pipeline, it takes me back to playing at the hangout in Gulf Shores, Al. This is a must buy guitar! My big dilemma is whether I want to play my tele or play my 50's strat by jumping into Walk Don't Run or Let's go Trippin. As always, I am grateful to my main man Aaron Smith at Sweetwater!
Music background: Playe in a band in high school. We got paid a whopping 50.00 a night! 5 of us. I also played in a band in 2000, but now I am a hobbyist!
