Guild's Starfire IV semi-hollowbody electric guitar brings you the graceful feel of the popular Starfire model from the '60s, with a thinline body style that's incredibly comfortable to play. You get a feel that's closer to a standard electric guitar, but with the organic, resonant tone you can only get from a semi-hollowbody. And the Starfire IV's tone is as distinct as its looks, with a pair of hum-canceling LB-1 "Little Bucker" pickups with their own tone and volume controls to fine-tune your sound. Call Sweetwater to add the undeniably sweet sound of the Guild Starfire IV to your collection today.

Guild Starfire IV Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:

  • Based on a classic Guild semi-hollowbody
  • 3-piece neck for long-lasting playability
  • Rich tone from a pair of Anti-Hum pickups
Based on a classic Guild hollowbody

Based on the Starfire from the '60s, this Guild Starfire IV semi-hollowbody packs all the mojo that made the original such a popular guitar during the rock revolution. Dual humbuckers and the thinline design make this guitar as ready for rock as it is for country or blues.

3-piece neck for long-lasting playability

Multi-piece necks are stronger and more rigid than single-piece necks, resisting twisting and warping over the years. Treat it well, and you'll get a lifetime of exceptional playability from the Guild Starfire IV semi-hollowbody.

Wide-ranging tone from a pair of humbucking pickups

The Guild Starfire IV is outfitted with a pair of smaller, hum-canceling LB-1 "Little Bucker" pickups. Originally designed in the 1960s, the Little Buckers were an alternative to single-coil pickups. The output sits somewhere between a single-coil and a vintage-style PAF humbucker, offering more jangle than a PAF, but a little more warmth than a traditional single-coil. Factor in the 3-way pickup selector, and you'll discover how good the Starfire IV can sound in just about any genre.

Guild Starfire IV Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • Thinline semi-hollowbody based on the '60s Guild Starfire
  • Hum-canceling LB-1 pickups
  • Exceptional tone and looks from laminated mahogany back, sides, and top
  • 3-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck for long-term playability
  • Grover Sta-Tite tuners give you excellent tuning stability
  • Hard case included
Bring back the '60s-rock vibe with the Guild Starfire IV!

Love it! Just what I have been looking for!

I submitted a review but didn't really mention much about the guitar itself - to help someone considering a purchase. The hard case that comes with the guitar is very nice - much nicer than I expected - solid with smooth latches and hinges and excellent padding. The tuners feel smooth and substantial. The pickups are consistent in volume on every string. I don't hear any hum. For me, the neck is easy to move around on and the guitar is comfortable all around to play. My daughter stopped by and asked to try it out. She played everything from Corcovado to Ellie Goulding. I offered to show her a couple chord sets that sound really good but she wouldn't give me back MY guitar. She said the same thing I was thinking: "I can't believe how easy it is to play this guitar." It is hard to set this thing down once you start playing. It plays well with a gently touch, but really comes alive when you get aggressive and attack those strings. This one is definitely made to be played.

I bought this particular guitar because the online reviews were so great and I bought it from Sweetwater for the same reason. Neither disappointed. The guitar was solidly double boxed and the guitar arrived in flawless condition. It was obvious David Goeglein put serious effort into setting this guitar up before shipping it. 4 strings perfectly in tune and 2 that were within a slight nudge of the tuners from perfect. Considering it's new and just traveled 2000 miles and a serious elevation change during a midsummer heat wave, I'd say that's pretty amazing. String height and intonation are perfect and what an absolutely beautiful guitar. Everything about it says quality and craftsmanship. Plugged into an Orange Crush amp and I am in electrified heaven.

If You Only Had ONE Guitar...

I bought this after hearing several people (including my Sweetwater rep) tell me they hardly even pick up their Gibson 335's anymore after getting this guitar. Let me explain. I'm mainly a flat-picking acoustic guy. And I do mostly rhythm when I'm on electric (american strat with fat 50's custom shop pickups). I wanted something with a beefier sound than my strat but still capable of those jangly, funky cleans when I wanted them. I had a hard time dialing the sound in that I wanted on a friends Gibson 335, so I started searching. After researching for several months, the search is over. These pickups are flat-out unreal. Crank up the tone nob and go to the middle position and it's jangly and tele-like. Roll the tone back and hit the neck pickup, and you're in jazz-box heaven. Add some gain, distortion or fuzz and spend some time on the bridge pickup and it's as thick and cutting as a les paul. In short- this guitar is perfect for the rhythm AND lead player, with MUCH more versatility than a 335... for, on average, ONE THIRD the price.Also- the tuners are solid, the neck is very comfortable, and the emerald green finish is GORGEOUS. But if you're like me, you won't even notice any of that cause you'll be so lost in the tone of this guitar. Please do yourself a favor and try this guitar out if you have any interest in semi-hollow guitars. And hit up Ben Porter at Sweetwater with any and all questions you have. He's been my rep for 5+ years and he's a flat-out guitar oracle.

Guild Starfire IV

Received this guitar a couple days ago. Its hard to put down very playable. Sounds good with country excellent for blues and great for rock sounds as well. I would put it against a 335 any day. The customer service at Sweetwater is second to none (Chris). I highly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase music gear
