    What a find

I had no idea of this guitar's existence until my bass player mentioned it. I was immediately drawn to its amazing look. Once I played it I knew this guitar was a keeper.
Great neck and super playable. I bought the GATOR case a week later; my SW rep confirmed the starcaster fit. This is my main guitar now for both my groups. Well worth the price.

Wow like it dropped out of heaven

I've been looking for a hollow body like this for years. It's playability and tone are awesome ! Plus hooked into Fender blonde reissue, wow that's where it's at for me ! Great guitar

    Great foundation. Great look

    1) I am Professional musician: this IS my day job.
    2) I upgrade all my guitars to locking tuners and specific electronics.
    3) would I recommend this guitar to someone else? In a heart beat.

I look at foundational elements to every guitar I purchase due to the fact that I pretty much swap everything out anyways. With that said this review is based on if I kept everything stock. However I gave it the highest rating because the foundation blew away my expectations and I expected a lot.
    Pros:
    1) sets up great (including intonation) (and NO dead frets)
    2) acoustically very woody sound but has more bite than I've experienced from other semi hollow.
    3) look is amazing. (I got it in black)
    4) affordable
    5) so glad they they added the stop tail/tunomatic bridge as it destroys the old proprietary bridge system of the original. Of course that is IMO

    Cons:
    1) tuners are less than to be desired for. Plus burs at the nut made tuning issues worse
    2) the sweep of the pots are either on or off. Range of tones were limited because of this.
    3) the pups are muddy. So muddy in fact I dimed my highs and zeroed out the bass on my amp and still couldn't get any clarity out of 60's Vox circuit.
    4) the screw screwing down into the pickgaurd from the top of the guitar was too long and under the pickgaurd was sunk into the finish a little bit. I put tact tap under it to prevent it for hitting the wood eventually

    Conclusion:
Great foundation great look plays great and is affordable.
Electronics and hardware upgrade is a must and you got yourself a fantastic guitar.

    Great Guitar

If you're in the market for sweet semi-hollow tonal options, this is very simply a great guitar at a great price. I kept checking it out at the local music store, trying in vain to talk myself out of it. In the end it just played and sounded much better than I would expect for this price range. I never write reviews, but after spending considerable time with this guitar I want to share the Modern Player Starcaster love. It would be 5 stars except that the first day I had it at home I managed to break the input jack,... twice. This is partly due to a vulnerable input location on a large body and partly due to the exceedingly flimsy jack plate. I would not let this deter you, but I won't gig with this one until I install a sturdier after-market jack. Regardless, I've already had hours and hours of great fun with this great guitar. Try it, you'll like it!

Great sounding guitar for short money.

Any time you can buy a guitar that sounds this good for under a grand you can't go wrong. The improvements Fender has made from the 70's version really make this guitar a sweet player and has some ear grabbing tone. I played it threw a Fender Super Sonic Twin that I also purchased from Sweetwater and was very impressed with how versatile this guitar is with this combo. Highly recommend trying this guitar. Only draw back is Fender does not make a HSC case yet to fit this guitar, but Gator does, so talk to your Sweetwater rep to hook you up. Also you will get Great!! service from Sweetwater.
