High-class '60s Vibe

The Newark St. Series Starfire VI semi-hollowbody electric guitar offers the feel and style of a popular 1960s icon with a touch of high-end class. The body is made from stunning AAA flamed maple. A pair of LB-1 "Little Bucker" pickups with their own tone and volume controls fine-tune your sound for a tone that is as distinct as the guitar's looks. And the Starfire VI offers the smooth bending and pitch control you'll only get from a great vibrato tailpiece. The Starfire VI is the uptown sibling of the Starfire line.

Guild Starfire VI Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • A dressed-up classic
  • Mahogany thinline construction
  • LB-1 anti-hum pickups
A dressed-up classic

Based on the Starfire from the '60s, this Guild Starfire VI semi-hollowbody electric guitar packs the intricacies that made the original a popular guitar during the rock revolution. The semi-hollowbody's arched AAA flamed maple top and back make for a seductive look and feel to the instrument. The open-back, vintage-style Grover Sta-Tite tuning machines recall the originals, but with the tuning stability of a modern guitar. And the individual tone and volume controls for each pickup and master volume knob let you dial in endless tonal shades.

Mahogany thinline construction

The semi-hollow thinline design of the Starfire VI blends the benefits of a solidbody and hollowbody electric guitar. The hollow wings offer more warmth and detail to your sound, while the centerblock helps fight feedback at loud performance volumes. The guitar's body is made of AAA flamed maple for an articulate tone. And the 3-piece maple/walnut/maple neck is ultra stable and adds attack with plenty of note fundamental to your sound. The Starfire VI blends the best of both worlds effortlessly.

LB-1 anti-hum pickups

The Guild Starfire VI is outfitted with a pair of hum-canceling LB-1 Little Bucker pickups. Originally designed in the 1960s, the Little Buckers were an alternative to single-coil pickups. The output sits somewhere between a single-coil and a vintage-style PAF humbucker. They offer more jangle than a PAF but a little more warmth than a traditional single-coil. Factor in the 3-way pickup selector, and you'll discover why Sweetwater players are loving the Starfire VI.

Guild Starfire VI Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • Thinline semi-hollowbody based on the '60s Guild Starfire
  • LB-1 pickup serves up rich, vintage-style tones
  • AAA flamed maple construction looks high end and classy
  • Exceptional tone and looks from laminated maple back, sides, and top
  • 3-piece maple/walnut/maple neck
  • Guild vibrato tailpiece offers vintage warble
  • Grover Sta-Tite tuners give you excellent tuning stability
The Guild Starfire VI brings back the '60s with style.

Starfire VI Satisfaction

I just got my smoking hot Guild Starfire VI - Vibrato, Cherry semi hollow body and I love it. After Sweetwater's 55 point inspection and set up the guitar showed up on my doorstep ready to roll. It makes me feel great just to look at it and it plays even better. I love the action and the although I was skeptical of the Bigsby Vibrato tailpiece pre-purchase, after playing, I love it. I have been playing a Strat for years and was looking for something new and that had a more rounded sound and i found it in my SF VI. Sweetwater's service is also excellent all around. I work with David M. there. David is courteous, professional and always available to provide info or just make things happen.

Quality and Fun

After playing solid bodies for 50 years, I joined a band playing more rhythm and wanting a "rounder" sound. I shopped heavily for hollow body electrics including semi-hollow and initially settled on a full hollow body, single cutaway that sounded great (Gretsch 5420T, very nice guitar). I read dozens of reviews and watched countless youtube videos. When I played the Starfire VI all my research went out the window: this was the one. The playability and versatility of the sounds is unmatched by any guitar I played including vintage models and more expensive ones (for my music taste). The build quality and visual appeal is truly inspiring, even though I'm mainly interested in how it plays and sounds. Not for nothing, a master volume control + separate volume and tone is so practical that I can't believe every guitar doesn't have this setup. The tailpiece is very stable, but takes a few days to settle in. Feedback is minimal even at high volume, which was a problem with other full hollow bodies I played, even the ones with designs that were supposed to limit feedback. I find myself playing twice as much because this guitar is so much fun to play. I literally can't walk by it without picking it up.

Guild Starfire VI

Love this guitar. Arrived quickly. Well packed and in pristine condition. Perfect setup out of the box. Beautiful flame top and back. All controls worked as intended, with not extraneous noise. Nevertheless, I "hotrodded" mine with Grover locking tuners (looks better with the bigger buttons anyway), a Vibromate Spoiler (to facilitate string changes), a modded StewMac roller bridge, and (of course) a black toggle switch cap.

Can't get any prettier than the Starfire VI!

I love this guitar. While it took a while to get here it was well worth the wait. I play a range of reverb heavy ambient music to rock and this guitar can handle both genres quite well. When shopping for a semi-hollow body, I looked at all types including a ES-335 dot and ES-339. Considering price I would say that the Starfire VI is a much better deal!
