Affordable mic with Pressure Zone technology
The Crown Sound Grabber II is an updated version of the original Sound Grabber. It utilizes the same Pressure Zone Microphone technology in which sound waves reinforce themselves in the area nearest a flat surface, usually referred to as the boundary.

Picks up distant sounds with clarity
Top recording engineers all over the world are using professional versions of the Crown PZM (Pressure Zone Microphone) to improve the quality of their recordings. The Sound Grabber II is one version of that technology, designed to meet the needs of the home or business recordist and bring the benefits of PZM technology within the reach of many more people. The Sound Grabber II offers you the opportunity for vast improvement in the quality of your recordings. The Sound Grabber II will pick up sounds at distances you never thought possible and it will pick them up with a clarity that other microphones, because of the limitations of their construction, simply cannot match.

No need for mic to follow the action - maintains tone quality at all angles
The Sound Grabber II does not need to follow the action, since it has a wide-angle pickup pattern. So long as the mic "sees" the sound, in whatever direction or angle, it will pick it up clearly; it does not need to be between you and the other person. Speakers or vocalists can move freely around the
Sound Grabber II without their tone quality changing.

Runs on a single AAA battery
Powered by a 1.5-volt AAA battery, the Sound Grabber II includes a permanently attached cable with a 1/8" phone plug. The microphone's unbalanced output connects directly to a miniature cassette recorder. A 1/4" phone plug adapter is provided.

Crown Sound Grabber II Pressure Zone Microphone Features:
  • Ideal mic for stage productions, band concerts, conferences
  • Pressure Zone Microphone technology picks up sound at boundaries
  • Captures distant sounds with full fidelity and clarity
  • Speakers or vocalists can move freely without loss of tone quality
Improve the quality of your recordings with the Crown Sound Grabber II!

Even sweeter

I had a pair of these way back in the day. At that time, we found that we could replace the single AA battery with 2 LR44 batteries. The LR44 battery is a 6-volt battery and two of them are the same size as 1 1.5-volt AA battery. That 12 volts really makes the Sound Grabber a MUCH better mic.

Easy, easy set up. Put on an older sound system in a larger conference room and works like a champ. And such a small profile. Customer service sold the item before we even received it, THANKS!

Outstanding results for interviews and meetings

I used this with a very inexpensive cassette recorder is a rush situation. Great results. Group participants were up to fifteen feet from the mic and were very clear.I went solely on the recommendation of the Sweetwater tech and again was not disappointed.

The Crown Sound Grabber II works great for piano!

I recently purchased two of these mics. I was trying to find a relatively inexpensive solution to the age old problem of trying to mic a grand piano without all the baggage that goes along with that. This situation was also a live concert recording. I placed two mics inside the grand piano to the right on the harp. I placed them over a piece of sound treatment (for vibration) and angled them at 45 degree angels from one another. I can honestly say this: THEY SOUND AMAZING! (especially considering the investment) I would recommend them to anyone who needs a piano mic solution. They sound better than mics 5X's the price or more. They sounded great live and they recorded beautifully. They get 4 stars only because the construction leaves a little to be desired. They are completely made out of plastic. However, don't let that be a deterrent. Take the plunge. It's a gemstone. You will be happy! Lastly, my experience at Sweetwater is always a pleasure. Thanks again Bart Good!
