The classic fuzz sound

If it weren't for the advent of the fuzzbox, rock 'n' roll might not have ever left the sock hop. From the signature guitar riff of the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" to the psychedelic haze of Jimi Hendrix, fuzz transformed the face of music. The Hotone Skyline Fury provides that classic rock 'n' roll fuzz, but also allows your playing to retain a clear and strong attack. With its powerful low end and unique "Squeeze" feeling via its PUSH function, the Skyline Fury is ready to give your sound some dirt. Of course, it can work its fuzzy magic on bass, too!

The Hotone Skyline Series - tiny and stylish

Less than two inches high, less than three inches long, and weighing in at less than 7 ounces, the Hotone Skyline Series of stompboxes offers a compact design, rugged build, and flexible tone. Encompassing a variety of effects including a looper, tuner, delay, octaver, tremolo, various overdrive and distortion effects, and more, all Skyline pedals have a durable zinc alloy outer cover, a transparent top knob that is lit up by two LED lights, and two other knobs that glow in the dark. Each pedal also has a button that gives you more tonal options. These pedals also have a metal bar to prevent you from accidentally moving the knobs with your foot when stomping on the footswitch. The Hotone Skyline Series delivers massive sound in a microscopic package!

According to Hotone, their slogan is "Design Inspiration." The company strives to create products that are centered around what is, what isn't, and what can be made possible. Hotone endeavors to create products that the music world has always wanted but never before imagined possible. Hotone states that it's one of their core values to challenge the limits of design. Versatile, Full-Range Woolly Fuzz in a Tough, Small Package

Heard this little guy at Gearfest (thanks, Sweetwater, for another great one!) and picked it up. It's definitely a fuzz, no smooth distortion or creamy overdrive here. It can go from mild grit to full-on ripping, spitting fuzz. It gets brighter as you turn the fuzz setting higher, but never gets overly bright or thin. The tone control is a simple treble roll-off, but it can get pretty dark all the way down. The pedal has a real strong low-end - almost too strong for me. But with the tone control all the way up, you get enough high-end, though I would prefer a little more. The mid-range isn't overpowering, unlike some other fuzzes, but it is there. You can get lots of volume from the volume knob. Unity gain for me is about 9 o' clock. The "Push" button in the middle increases compression slightly and seems to even out the sound (frequency wise) and also gives the fuzz a slight boost. One thing I discovered is that if you put this pedal AFTER a pedal with a buffer (like Boss or Visual Sound) you get an over-the-top, ultra-saturated, highly compressed fuzz sound. (Think Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young, only more!) Not your everyday fuzz sound, but it could be useful for some tunes or effects. If you want the regular fuzz sound, put this pedal first, or only after true-bypass pedals. The Fuzz knob is lighted when the pedal is on, but it still can be difficult to see the numbers on the knob. The pedal itself seems pretty tough - it's made of metal and is heavy for it's size. The pedal is small enough to throw in a pants or coat pocket. The bar across the pedal keeps you from messing up the knobs or accidentally hitting them when you stomp on it - a nice feature. Note that you need to use a power supply with this, there's no way a battery could fit in it. Overall, a good, flexible fuzz - over-the-top if you want it - in a small yet strong package.
