Sibelius works better with a reference guide

The authors of Sibelius have made it as easy as possible to create great sheet music at the computer. Even so, with all of the features that the program has, you have to study in detail to get the most out of it. For me it is essential to have a printed Reference Guide. When Sib 7 first came out, Avid soon ran out of reference guides and I bought one on ebay. Recently when the music school where I work acquired Sibelius, I went back to ebay and found that Sweetwater is a good place to shop for the Sibelius Reference Guide.

    Sibelius 7 Reference VERY helpful

Although I haven't had this book very long, it is already invaluable to have a hard copy of the Sibelius 7 help. I was SO glad to see when it became available. I have experienced a lot of frustration with the Sibelius 7 upgrade. As much as I love online help, there are many times with software for music transcription that I am not sure what the thing I am looking for is called. So being able to flip through the index, table of contents, chapters, etc. is VERY helpful. Thank you, Sibelius, for releasing this reference book.

    Avid Sibelius Reference Book

As I hate to have to scroll infinitely down on pdf files I decided to purchase the reference guide in hard back which is exactly the same material which comes with Sibelius 7 itself.

I love being able to "cut to the chase" in a fraction of the time, but imagine my unpleasant surprise when the binding cracked and broke where I had the guide opened up to, despite my gingerly handling of the book to prevent such occurances!

It's great to have on hand but I'm now afraid the whole book will be falling apart...even with minimal use.

C'mon Avid, or whoever actually prints the reference book! You can do better than this...especially at the exorbitant purchase price of $40 or $50 for a copy of something I already own!

    unimpressed

Do not I like the way the manual was written. The basics, such as note entry, did not start soon enough. I think the much needed stuff, entering notes and rests, etc.. started after pages 200. That is way too late for people who want to jump right in.

The illustrations are not very useful because the text associated with them is too small to read.
