Paradigm Shift

The Godin Session Custom Triple Play solidbody electric guitar and wireless MIDI controller will rock your world. A pair of superb Godin pickups crank out an avalanche of tone, but the major news here is that this axe is packing integrated Fishman Custom TriplePlay technology with a wireless USB receiver and a hexaphonic pickup, which turns it into a wireless guitar controller. It's time to give you Sweetwater Sales Engineer a call and have a frank discussion about what the Godin Session Custom Triple Play can do for your music!

Godin Session Custom Triple Play at a Glance:
  • Integrated Fishman Custom TriplePlay technology
  • Rock All Night in Complete Comfort
  • Godin: pro-quality instruments loaded with innovations
Integrated Fishman Custom TriplePlay technology

The Godin Session Custom Triple Play is an incredible guitar without the Fishman Custom TriplePlay system, but when you factor in this state-of-the-art technology and consider what it can do for your music, you've got a paradigm shift of major proportions. The TriplePlay system consists of an onboard wireless transmitter and a USB receiver you plug into your computer, giving you six separate signals from the guitar's onboard hexaphonic pickup that are routed wirelessly into your DAW. Imagine, for example, instantiating six Thors in Reason, with six different (but complimentary) patches. OK, now you've got 18 oscillators cranking, complete with filtration and a boatload of modulation, for a massive super-synth sound. Now imagine combining that with the output from the Session Custom's magnetic pickups. Finally, imagine you're doing all this live, onstage. Now you're thinking along the same lines we are.

Rock all night in complete comfort

With a lightweight, contoured basswood body, generous cutaway, and speedy maple neck, the Session Custom lets you rock all night in complete comfort. For your whammying pleasure, Godin's Tru-Loc vibrato lets you customize the arm position to suit your playing style.

Godin is extremely under-rated

This is my second Godin, so I knew exactly what to expect before it arrived. Beautifully crafted, and nearly perfectly set up. The intonation was a little off, but easily adjusted. Action is PERFECT. I'm surprised at the range of tone this simple 5 way switch creates. It's not the switch you would get in the plain Session Custom, and that's a little disappointing, but this one is excellent.Fishman's midi pickup works so well you might not have to adjust your playing style. I'm primarily using it on Ivory II, which within itself has quite a sensitivity range. Ghost notes were a real buggar at first, but I eventually tamed most of them. On other synths, I don't have the same issue. Tracking on this thing is nearly latency free. A little slow on the 5th and 6th strings, due to low frequency taking longer to translate to a midi signal.Fishman's software translates well into my DAW (Sonar Platinum), and does an excellent job in stand-alone, as well. I have no regrets with this guitar, and only wish I still had my first Godin to keep it company.

records like a dream

I've been playing guitar for 25 years and I have quite a few really great guitars. I bought this one sight unseen because of the fishman triple play. I honestly had no idea the guitar was going to be SO good! I am truly surprised and blown away. There is absolutely nothing bad to say about this guitar. The playability is good, the neck is comfortable, it is balanced and sits comfortably because of the strat like belly contour. The looks are not bad being a hybrid between a strat and a telly in styling. The sound is what surprised me the most. With a humbucker in the neck and a single coil in the bridge it has a 5 way switch and this particular pickup combination is surprisingly versatile in range of what you can do with it. I can compare this to 4 of my other guitars; It feels like my Stratocaster with that familiar 5 way switching and tremelo bridge. It has the bite and twang of my telecaster when I choose the bridge pickup. I like that I can also get close to the sound of my Les Paul, but since it is different woods, it has a little bit of extra clarity and doesn't suffer that muddy neck humbucker syndrome and retains a nice tight tonal definition. A BIG bonus that I totally didn't expect was that it has a better rockabilly sound than my fancy red archtop. I have guitars 3 times the cost of this one and this little godin records the best of all of them for the type of music I play which is old surf, rockabilly, country, blues, jazz, and classic rock genres. On top of everything I've just stated, the triple play system lets me choose and record any virtual instruments that I want whether that be drums, piano, strings, stand up bass, or whatever. With this one guitar I can open my DAW, build a drum track, lay down a bass line, throw down a rhythm track; guitar, piano, or whatever voicing I choose, create my guitar solo, add the vocals, and boom I've got a fully featured song! Then, I go back and listen to the drum track and add in fills, crashes, and whatever other dynamics I want to add by slapping my strings. Crazy! A macbook pro, a good DAW, and this guitar and you've got the equivalent of a million dollar studio. Unreal. You kids have no idea how good you've got it these days. I'm just glad this technology is here and I'm in my prime for using it. Buy this guitar right now!
