Clean, Quiet Power Amp from Samson!

Samson doesn't "just" manufacture some of the finest wireless systems in the world. They also make great power amps, like the high quality, very affordable Servo Series. These compact, durable amps pack a lot of punch and are versatile enough for both live and studio applications. All three models include circuitry protection against overheating and over current, and the Servo 200, 300 and 600 feature relay-controlled power-on circuitry that prevents speaker "thumps." To keep the Servo Series amplifiers running cool, their design employs twin internal wind tunnels with forced-air cooling via two temperature-sensitive, variable speed fans, which greatly reduce the chance of thermal and overheating problems. The sound is clean, powerful and transparent. This is truly professional sound at a price anyone can afford.

Samson Servo 200 Amp

Very nice amp and provides all the power I need. Very quiet fan! I do area entertainment at a lot of weddings, nursing homes, senior citizens assisted living, civic events, etc. and have the amp mounted in a road case. Would not hesitate to recommend this amp to a friend or fellow steel player. I would also like to add that Sweatwater sales associate Dave Brow was the best to work with on ordering new equipment when I decided to give public appearences one last shot to keep active in retirement. None better than Sweetwater! p.s. they are a little skimpy on the Tootsie Rolls when including the candy pack with each order.....LOL

Want to monitor a stereo mix? This is it.

I play live music. My live system has a stereo mix. I route that mix to this amp. I can't complain. Add a couple of 4-ohm speakers and you're good to go. I hear myself better now.

Clean, dependable budget amp

I've used this to power two Behringer Truth studio monitors for over 6 years. Nowadays I just use them for music listening, but I've used them to track and master too. A truly budget setup... but the Samson servo has a great dynamic range and enough clarity to monitor. Never shuts down, never thumps. Pretty versatile hookup... would be nice to have XLR and spring clips but it's not a huge deal. The thing is really well built, and the colorful LED meters and sweet blue power ring are a cool perk. NOT 100W per channel at 8 ohms - don't be deceived! Still plenty to fill a room, and you can bridge it easily. I'm buying another one to drive a sub!

Great sound - fan noise fixable

I have the 120a and 200 for my studio both sound great - the 200 does have more head room. But the 200 and higher units have a built in fan that can be noisy for a recording stuido. I liked the amp so I replaced the fan with a Silenx fan the fit perfectly. I got it a fry's electronics for $10 and it is way quieter. Silenx will email you a digram if you have trouble with the 2 wires (the new fan has 3 and you only need 2). It took me 15minutes. The trick is to take the front panel off too to make it easy to get the fan screws. Easy swap. For the money is a well built and great sounding unit. i only gave it 4 stars because of the fan noise - Samson should have taken care of this issue in my opinion.

Good for now

This works well for what I'm doing in my home studio. I had bought one before, and it stopped working after about two years. It was cheaper to buy a new one. So, for the price, I picked the same one again. Hopefully this one lasts a bit longer.
