Looking for a portable audio interface for your Mac or PC, one that sounds great but won't break the bank? If so, then you've got to check out the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. The latest member of the Scarlett interface family, which also includes the Scarlett 8i6 (6-in/6-out) and the Scarlett 18i6 (18-in/4-out), the Scarlett 2i2 is a 2-in/2-out USB 2.0 audio interface with two mic/instrument preamps, each with built-in phantom power. The Scarlett 2i2 also has a control-room monitor section, with a large level control knob, a headphone output with its own volume control knob, and a switch to engage direct monitoring for low latency when tracking. As a bonus, the Scarlett 2i2 comes with the Scarlett plug-in suite for VST, Audio Units, and RTAS. The Scarlett suite includes compression, reverb, gating, and EQ -- all the essentials for music production. Weighing in at barely more than a pound, the Scarlett 2i2 is the ideal interface for upgraded, pro-quality sound on the go. It's great for stereo capture, overdubs, editing, mixdown -- any audio production task that doesn't require more than two simultaneous inputs or outputs. The preamps sound good, the monitor volume control is handy, and the unit installs quickly and easily. Simple to use, with great sound quality, in a 4" x 7" package. Nice!
