As the owner of several IK virtual products, I consistently find myself pleased. The SampleMoog is no exception.
I also own other synth software programs - Arturia, Digidesign virtual instruments, and each have their own niche. However, the layout and effort put into the SampleMoog seems to be more than enough for the hard-core Moog fan. The selection is excellent, and actually having folders & libraries of the different Moog machines through the years, for the producer this helps in a variety of ways, especially when searching for a select patch or looking for a certain "era" type of sound.
I wish the layout was a little larger. Unless you have a big video monitor, you may find yourself squinting just a bit. I don't have these problems with the Amplitube layouts, because they are larger and easier on the eyes. Personally I wish IK would put a little more effort into the visual aspect of their virtual instruments like they did the Amplitube products. Of course, this is a small thing in comparison to the quality sounds that we are all really looking for.
As with any IK product, I find the effects to be more than enough to satisfy a hard-core sound-designer. Even with other IK products, I consistently find myself pleased with their effects, and the sheer number of parameters that you can manipulate. You can't complain about the vast effects capabilities.
Overall, this is a great addition to a virtual sound library. Great layout, intuitive, easy to navigate, huge library of presets... I just wish the screen shot was a little larger. Two thumbs up!
