The microphone came with everything I needed and was easy to use. It works great. Just wish I had ordered a case.

You Get What You Pay For

I purchased the Samson Stage 55 Headset System for my church to replace a low end Audio Technica wireless system that died. We were thrilled with the price and the positive reviews, but were terribly upset and disappointed when this unit arrived and was nothing but trouble for the 30 minutes it was out of it's box.

Let me first say that we have a top notch sound system for the size of room we're in. Presonus StudioLive 16.4.2, JBL PRX615's and PRX618's. The Samson headset mic, plugged in, with no EQ sounded boxy, muffled, and unpleasant. After 30 minutes of gain stage adjustment, eq, soft compression and every other trick in the book, it sounded boxy, muffled, and unpleasant.

This unit is EXTREMELY noisy! The manufacturer KNOWS this, but instead of fixing it, they added a "squelch" control which is a glorified noise gate! Don't believe me? Read it in the online manual for yourself. Within a 30 minute window of being hooked up to our system, the unit had no less than 5 white noise outbursts that scared the living daylights out of myself and the other audio tech helping me! I can't imagine how our congregation would react! I don't know a ton about wireless, but I'm guessing that it was RF interference.

The ONLY reason I gave this unit a 1.5 and not a 1.0 is build quality. The transmitter, headset mic, receiver, and all other accessories seemed very sturdy. All in all, I've had to relearn an age old lesson: you get what you pay for. It'll be worth my church's investment to spend the extra money for a professional wireless system.
