Sounds Great - Like the Way I Play
I installed American Acoustic as an app on my phone and I loved the sound. So I went ahead and got the desktop plugin. The sound is beautiful. It sounds like the way *I* play acoustic guitar. Soft and expressive. Nice job, IK. Great, rich, acoustic sounds.
Weak and unrealistic
I bought this on sale from IK based on site demos. They sounded great, but it was hard to find any forum posts or user demos of the product. It's better than the D35 samples in ST3 but isn't realistic or thoroughly sampled. They picked and strummed very lightly at the guitar, and different articulations are hard to discern. This VST will find its way into the background of some of my songs but nowhere near the front. You're better off renting an acoustic and recording it in your room, or paying someone to do acoustic tracks for you. The acoustic guitar is a complex instrument and, unlike drums or piano, is very hard to sample. But the Italians at IK did a mediocre job with American Guitar.
