Classic design, improved

Gibson acoustic guitars have a reputation for being some of the best acoustic instruments out there, with well over 100 years of experience and craftsmanship behind them - and the Hummingbird is no exception. While staying true to what makes these instruments legendary, Gibson Acoustic loaded this Hummingbird with an updated LR Baggs Element VTC pickup system for amazing onstage tone. The Hummingbird also features softened fingerboard edges for a fast, comfortable feel, and the new oil finish penetrates deeply to maximize your tone. It's the same guitar that made the Hummingbird an icon, but with modern touches today's players demand.

Dressed up deadnought style

The Gibson Hummingbird brought a subtle new body style and a bold new look to Gibson's dreadnought family. The Hummingbird was Gibson's first square-shoulder body shape. To emphasize the importance of the new model, Gibson outfitted the original Hummingbird with such eye-catching features as a Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish, double parallelogram fingerboard inlays, multi-layered binding, and a pickguard engraved with a hummingbird and blossoms. These appointments are translated perfectly on the new Gibson Acoustic Hummingbird.

Quality construction

As discriminating guitarists immediately discovered, underneath the Hummingbird's flashy ornamentation is a solid guitar. This incarnation of the Hummingbird brings you the same square shoulder design, with a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides. These tonewoods come together to give the Hummingbird a sweet, warm tonality that sits well in countless musical situations. The guitarists at Sweetwater know how important playability is, and no Hummingbird goes out the door without the famed Plek-assisted setup, offering you great action, spot-on intonation, and a buzz free instrument that is just about perfect.

Love it

I have a 2009 Hummingbird and love it. Opened up nicely. Pickguard started lifting but I got a replacement from Gibson from an authorized dealer. Definitely a keeper since it was my first and last hummingbird. One is all you need but I do want the Gibson Dove and that's it I'm done.

Gibson Hummingbird

Bought my Hummingbird in January 2017. It arrived very fast and was packed well. I let it sit in the house for a while before I opened the case (a bit cold out). It was as beautiful as it looked on the website. You can definitely trust those pics! It played GREAT right out of the case. I think the final tweaks and checking that's done before shipping paid off. My wife has a Taylor 310 and a vintage Guild. She played my Gibson and fell in love. Big, cutting sound with a fretboard to die for in my opinion. I also got a G7 capo, Gibson strap and the polish/cloth kit. Best purchase I've made in a long time!!

Great Guitar

This is a really wonderful guitar. I've never had a Gibson acoustic and had my eye on this model for a while. I have several Martins and a couple of Guilds. I've also had some Taylors in the past and I have a few lower end guitars (Yamaha, Ibanez, Washburn) that I use as travel guitars or beaters. This Hummingbird arrived and was flawless. There are certain issues with acoustics that I always look for and this passed every test. No fret buzz at all, a nice boomy sound and no flaws in the finish or any other problems. It looks really nice as well. It's a bit lighter than the pictures show which was a good thing. i was hoping for more of the faded, honey-like color that I've seen in stores and other photos. I didn't really want a deep cherry color, so I was very happy when I received it and the color was more orange/honey and more subtle than the pictures can show. It plays really well and I'm very happy with it. Another one for the collection!!

Gibson Hummingbird

Tone and playability are exceptional. A beautiful guitar. This one is a keeper. I had a 1970 Hummingbird that was lost (long sad story) and that one also had such great tone it made you want to listen to every note. This new 2016 version is a replacement for that, and it is easier to play due to the wonderful setup. I personally want to thank the people at Gibson that built this guitar, it is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. The guitar makes you play better because it is such a fine instrument. I could not be happier! And thank you Sweetwater and Paul Rowan, your help getting me hooked up with this beauty was just great. Your staff does a great job in making sure the product delivered - delivers.
