Chris Lord Alge Virtual Drums!

In 2012, remix maven Chris Lord-Alge dusted off his recording engineer hat and went into Burbank's Ocean studios to capture world-class drum kits for Steven Slate Drums. He took the drum tracks back to his LA studio and mixed them in his classic style using the same processing chains you've heard on his hit records. He even recorded a sample layer of his famous Sony reverb unit for the kicks and snares. Great for a quicker pre-mixed drum sound

I am a big fan of Slate Digital and Steven Slate Drums, and I also am a fan of the way Chris Lord Alge mixes rock music. These drum kits are definitely produced with Chris' sound in mind, and they do a great job. They are more of a pre-mixed sound though, although there is still room to mix them on your own, especially if you are taking advantage of the Steven Slate Drums routing system to mix the individual tracks. It may not make you mix like Chris Lord Alge, but they are great for having something that doesn't take too much work, and the sounds often work great in a mix on their own or mixed with live drums. However, if you are looking for something less pre-mixed that gives you a little more flexibility to mix it to the sound you want, I would recommend the Blackbird Studios drum package for Steven Slate Drums. That package is great for a drier sound that you can tailor to the sound you want. It takes more work though, and these are great when I need or want something quick so that I can just get to work on other things. I own both though, but if I were to get just one, I would recommend getting the Blackbird expansion first. With some decent mixing skills, you can get that same general sound using the Blackbird drum kits, and they are recorded with more room mics that add a lot of versatility. Both expansion packs are useful though.
