Tonewoods provide exceptional sound

Ibanez makes some very fine instruments, and the unique SRF705 is no exception. The SRF705's neck-through design offers increased sustain and enhanced tone thanks to a 5-piece maple/bubinga neck. Ibanez chose mahogany body wings for exceptional low-end impact and rich sustain. The extended rosewood fretless fingerboard sports a 30-fret length that lets you play in upper registers usually reserved for upright basses. The Ibanez SRF705 fretless bass is a bass player's dream come true. Any musician at Sweetwater will agree, the Ibanez SRF705 is a versatile and great-playing fretless bass guitar.

Piezo pickup system provides powerful upright tones

Fretless bass players are always looking for unique and smooth tones. Ibanez's SRF705 fretless bass gives you new tonal options not typically found on basses in this price range. It starts off with a pair of Bartolini MK1 and an active 2-band EQ, but the SRF705 doesn't stop there. The Ibanez-exclusive AeroSilk Piezo pickup system gives you the killer upright bass tones that you've been looking for. Not just another piezo system, the AeroSilk system was custom-built using plastic saddles at the bridge to enhance the "acoustic" bass tone. You can adjust each piezo pickup's volume for perfect string balance. Add this to the extended fingerboard and you have tones and notes usually reserved for upright bass players on your electric bass. The Ibanez SRF705 electric bass was designed for the fretless bass player who's looking for more.

USA Bartolini pickups deliver killer tone

Get ready for serious low end. The Ibanez SRF705 features two Bartolini MK1 humbucking pickups with ceramic magnets. To make the most out of the pickups - and to help you dial in the right bass tone - the SRF705 is also loaded with a powerful 2-band equalization system, giving you complete control over your bass and treble. When you combine this with the AeroSilk Piezo pickup system, you get a bass that can nail any tone in any genre of music.

Worth every penny...

This bass is absolutely insane! It's a beast and it sounds twice as good as it looks. Before I got it, I had never even touched a fretless bass, but I felt it very easy to transition to because of comfort and ease of use. I played fretted basses for hours a day and if you learn to lay your finger just right behind the fret, it makes it much easier to transition to fretless. At least for me I mean. Tone: 10/10 The tone on this bass is amazing. Truly amazing. If you are looking for that bass that sings or has the "mwah" sound, this bass is for you. If you are looking at a mean funk bass with a growl, this bass is also for you. All in all, no matter what style you are going for, this bass can provide. Construction: 9.5/10 This bass was very well made overall. I see nothing wrong with the body and everything feels super solid. The only problem I had was trying to put strap locks on this bass. I had to do surgery on it as soon as I got it so the strap lock screw would go in far enough. After I finished redrilling the holes, everything worked out great and played flawlessly. In conclusion, this bass is an extremely versatile instrument, being able to range from smooth jazz to heavy metal. (I've tried both genres). The bass never has any downside and it's just a great instrument. I'm never getting rid of it.

Fret less not more.

The perfect sound and feel. I'm completely blown away with my recent Sweetwater purchase. At 67 years old I feel like a teenager making love with the girl of my dreams. An amazing instrument at an amazing price.

Sweet Bass

I recorded this bass and band mates thought I got a stand up. Sounds so great. You can mix the piezo pickups with the bartolinis and get super fat sounds. Plays effortlessly with the low action and flat wounds I could play all day. Quality is excellent. Light weight well balanced . Finish is beautiful, neck finish is so smooth I don't want to stop. Highly recommend.

Excellent bass!

I've never played on a fretless before. I have thumped around on an upright and couldn't find my fingerings. I was concerned that I'd have the same issue on this bass. I've had no difficulty playing (thanks to the handy fret markers on the side!) and, quite frankly, I now prefer this bass over any of my fretted basses. This is due to (a) ease of playing; (b) tone, and (c) TONE! Although this is not quite an upright sound, you'll get a close upright sound when you play this bass. You can hear the growl come through and it's amazing. I turn off the main pickups and just use the Piezo system - works like a charm. Again, never thought I'd play, much less enjoy, a fretless bass. Well worth the money. This is now the third Ibanez bass I've purchased (all from Sweetwater) and it's a great addition to the bass family at my house.

Ibanez SRF705 and Sweetwater- a Perfect Duo

I was looking for my ideal bass; it had to have piezo pickups, and it had to allow easy playing of those high notes. It also had to be fretless, and without lines- If I'm going to play a fretless (and that's all I play now), I want a clean, minimalist fretless look. Finally, it had to be affordable... In other words, a great value. The SRF705 is all that and more- it has a sweet sound, a solid feel and great playability. I turned to Sweetwater primarily because of their after-purchase support, and their solid reputation. I have not been disappointed, and I will be a return customer. I am very pleased with both the guitar and Sweetwater.

Sweetwater Advice

Mike Baldonado

I've owned an Ibanez SR705 fretted bass for years and always wished they would make a fretless version. As soon as I heard they had, I bought it - and it's everything I wanted it to be! The Bartolini pickups provide the huge tone that Ibanez players know and love while the AeroSilk Piezo pickup allows you to really dial in the warmth and tone of an upright bass. You can play anything from jazz to metal on this beast. Add in a 30-fret neck with the weight, feel, and look that only Ibanez can produce and you have a winner. I will have this bass for the rest of my life!
