    absolutely mind blowing.

This bass is by far the best bass I have ever had the luck to touch, let alone own. Perfect in every aspect.

    Ibanez SR256

This is a great bass. I used this with a Fender Rumble 150, which is sounds great with. The neck is a little wide, but it makes slapping easier; it gives more room for my thumb. I would highly suggest it if you intend to start playing a six string.

    Pro level, entry price

I've been playing bass since 1993. I've owned a lot of basses, including an old Ibanez SR406 (same body contours as this bass), and a newer Ibanez SR405QM (same electronics package as this bass). It is well balanced on a strap or sitting. Strong 3-piece maple neck, 3 band EQ, and lightweight. As mentioned in previous posts, I've played this bass with many styles of music, and it fit in the mix very well, both live and in studio. Great sounding bass. The tone is smooth with bite in the upper register and warm lows. Frankly, I'm amazed this bass is selling for so little. I would recommend this bass to anyone looking for an affordable 6 string, or to someone looking for a backup 6 string.

    Not for the professional

I have to be honest…this bass has great tone for the price. It's a good instrument, but not for a regular musician. I bought this two years ago, it came with Elixir strings, which I am still playing on; I think they sound excellent. The original pickups could be better, but they're pretty good; as beforementioned, the bass has great tone for the price.

My problems? The battery life is crap. I usually get 5-6 weeks out of a battery. My current record is 8 weeks. I play it often, but I don't leave the cable plugged in. If you are a musician who carries many spare batteries (9v), this shouldn't be a problem. If you're someone like me, who doesn't like spending the extra money on batteries, this is not the instrument for you.

The second problem has been the strap buttons. This shouldn't be a problem on any instrument, but it was here. The drilling is too big for the screws. Any guitarist/bassist knows that there are ways to fix this, but in my opinion, it shouldn't be a problem.

I give it a 3.0 for the reason that the tone is great; this instrument should not be looked down upon for it's tonal quality. If it could be rated, I give it a 4.0 But the battery life should be much longer than I've been experiencing. That rated, it's a 1.5
