The Bass VI Is Back, and Affordable!

The Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI is descended from the historic Fender Bass VI (1961-1975) that was embraced by guitar and bass luminaries alike. Jack Bruce played one in the early days of Cream. George Harrison sported one in the Beatles' "Hey Jude" video. Squier has updated the baritone classic with a trio of custom Jaguar single-coil pickups, and routed the potent elixir through a versatile switching scheme. A non-floating vibrato completes the setup. If you want unique textures for your music, Squier's Vintage Modified Bass VI will do the trick.

Very Cool Sound

Of course any guitar is only as good as the person playing it to some extent, as you also know each guitar has it's own characteristics. I wanted this review to be about Sweetwater because I have several guitars I've ordered online, all of them great. I hand - picked them so it would have been stupid to pick out something because I thought other people would think it was cool. I digress. Back to the point, The 55 point check Sweetwater got me the first guitar I've EVER received in the mail that I DIDN'T have to adjust the neck.Back to the Squier VI itself. There are 4 switches on it as you can see. If you're familiar with probability combinations, I extend the advice that if you find a sound you REALLY like, as the switch combinations can get out of control, seriously. So write down any combination of settings that especially appeals to you.A final note from me: the 3 pick-ups. Wow. They're bright, or they can be. (I just mentioned the finite but large number of potential switch settings.) The final note: I saw somewhere in the description of this baby that George Harison used one like it in the Beatles 'Hey Jude' video and that Jack Bruce used one in the early days of Cream. Yeah, if you play a standard Blues Scale (for a 6 string guitar) you can hear 'Badge,' taking form. I think that was on "Good-Bye." Whatever. I LOVE this guitar. I'm glad I bought it I really, REALLY hope you hear some original song played with it on the radio or something and I especially hope I'll be the guy playing it. (I can't say the band name right now due to a copyright not yet in place. You never know. Bottom line, if you're considering getting one of these, you won't be sorry, I'm pretty sure. AND if you DO decide to get it. THIS is the place to get it from. They've taken GREAT care of me so far. Not a single complaint. I hope and trust they will keep up the good work.

Perfect for me

I'm incredibly picky when it comes to guitars. I picked this mode for the following reasons: the rosewood fretboard is incredibly smooth, the inlays and binding are very classy looking (got the black mode), and the scale length obviously. I have restrung it as a baritone guitar B to B with a lighter string gauge (tricky, but doable), and it sounds incredible. Chords are rich and there is a woody/resonant nature to the guitar once strung this way. I play mostly post rock and shoegaze with some high gain indie or post hardcore and this handles all of it. Incredible value and I'll keep it until it breaks.

Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI - Black

I bought this bass after eye-balling it for a year. I went to my local music store, which is a Fender/Squier dealer, and inquired about ordering one. He said it would take quite a while to get one shipped to the store. So I went to Sweetwater's ebay listing, and bought it there. I was surprised at the quick shipping, and how well it was packaged. But what blew me away is the customer service. I contacted SW about a question I had, and ended up talking for ten minutes about guitars. You can tell they are musicians and are very friendly. That means a lot to me, when I'm giving someone my money. The bass is awesome, I play it like I'm finger picking an acoustic guitar. I can't wait to record this monster!

This is the in between you've always wanted. Play it like a Bass, flip acouple switches and shred it like a guitar. Can't beat the price.
