Thirty rich, detailed, and expressive sounds onboard

When you start tickling the ivories on your Korg SP-280 keyboard, you're far from limited to acoustic piano sounds. That's because Korg loaded this portable performance piano with a total of 30 wonderfully expressive instruments. Choose from electric pianos, organs, clavs, and more. Not only does the SP-280 provide you with full and realistic sound, it also delivers subtleties such as key release noise, and other ambient incidentals that make each sound come alive.

Powerful full-range stereo speaker system built in

Onstage or in your parlor, the SP-280's onboard stereo sound system delivers all the sound you desire, without the need for an external amplifier. In fact, the SP-280 keyboard's 2 x 22W speaker system is more than powerful enough to hold its own in smaller venues, making it perfect for cafe and bar gigs. And if you need to run to the PA, don't worry, Korg also equipped the SP-280 with standard 1/4" outputs.

Great for gigging, but also for home practice and lessons

One of the wonderful things about the SP-280 is its delightfully lightweight construction. Even with the stand, the SP-280 weighs under 42 lbs., which is impressive for a piano with a naturally weighted hammer-action keybed. In addition to the standard layer mode, the SP-280 also gives you a convenient partner mode, which allows you to split the keybed into two identical parts - perfect for playing with a student or teacher. On top of that, there are two headphone outputs onboard, allowing you to play with a partner, without disturbing the rest of the house.

Korg SP-280 Digital Stage Piano Features:
  • A great feeling and wonderful sounding digital stage piano you can take to any gig
  • Full 88-note Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH) keybed provides heavier action in the lower register and lighter action in the high note for super-realistic acoustic piano feel
  • Loaded with 30 extremely realistic instrument sounds, including acoustic pianos, electric pianos, organs, clavs, harpsichord, strings, and more
  • Damper resonance, key release noise, and other details add to the realistic sound
  • Powerful 2 x 22W stereo sound system is perfect for use at home and for small gigs
  • Partner mode keyboard splitting and dual headphone jacks provide great resources for taking or giving piano lessons
  • Lightweight design (only 42 lbs.) is ideal for gigging

Saving space

Bought for my children who are taking piano lessons and had no space for a full size piano. They love it!

Excellent bang for the buck keyboard

I've owned several keyboards over the last 30 years from cheap home units to high end Korg synth's. I'm using this as a home keyboard for writing and simple playing pleasure and not for gig's. I'm really pleased with the accurate piano, electric piano, and organ models the SP-280 covers. The keyboard feel is very good, if a slight bit sluggish on key rebound. Overall quality is excellent, especially for the price range. I have demo'ed several Yamaha's in this range but the Korg edges them out with a better keyboard action and more accurate modeling. The SP-280 doesn't have 600+ patches, but it does a superior job on what it has. The on board speakers are surprisingly loud and produce fairly clean, useful tones. Their low end range is a bit weak for an 88 key, but outputting in addition to them into a bass or keyboard amp makes it gig-able.As for the first reviewer's complaints about not having any "decent dynamic control when playing quietly", they should have read the manual. By simply holding the Touch key and pressing the Up value key once, you increase the key sensitivity above default levels dramatically. You just need to remember to do this each time you power up.

Great Keyboard

This keyboard has good sound for being a keyboard. of course, playing it, it doesn't sound at all as good as my real acoustic piano. the sound is not bad, but it's also not super good. still, very good purchase, looks great in white. I love the free pedal and stand...very sturdy stand and not all that hard to assemble.

Korg keyboard

I really likes the sound options, key action was also good. The sound was not enouogh for the size of the church, but connected to the sound system made a grea t difference.
Music background: Church pianist, have piano and organ at home

Very nice keyboard

I bought this to teach myself how to play. I can play a little, took lessons years ago but forgot most everything. Some of it coming back as I sit and play more. The ease of playing and the sound is great. I have a real piano, Baldwin upright, but this Korg is just what I wanted for the different sound capability and features it offers. I have owned inexpensive smaller keyboards but they don't come close to this sound.
