I have always been a tube amp distortion guy at my live shows. At home I've been using the Eleven Rack for practice and always found myself going to the Soldano model. Given that a true Soldano amp is more than I want to spend for my once a month live gigging, I was trying to figure out how to get that tone in my live rig. My primary amp blew last year and was unrepairable, so a local amp builder offered to build me a custom amp. While he is working on it I picked up a vintage Fender Concert (Rivera era) because I love a good Fender clean tone. My search was then on to find a great distortion/crunch to pair with the Fender. I tried many pedals, but once I used the Wampler Slostortion at my show I was hooked. It has a full, rich sound with tons of (very sensitive) control options to dial in the tone. I got a ton of compliments on my tone last weekend at my gig. My only complaint is I wish there was a third button. I like to have a fat crunch, a sustaining solo sound, and a volume boost for soloing. This pedal has two out of three. While it can get just about any tone, I would love the ability to "switch channels" with a button. Overall though I'm extremely happy with this and will probably continue to use it with my custom amp.
