This is a great guitar. The only extended range guitar I've used before this was a seven string, and it has straight frets. I was a bit worried about how I would get used to the fanned frets, but after 5 minutes with this guitar, I didn't even notice it.
The setup was perfect out of the box, with action just about where I like it. The pickups sound great for the kind of music I'm using it for (dissonant black metal), and the clean sounds are very serviceable, too. I looked it over and didn't find any flaws; the finish is smooth and glossy, the binding was perfect.
The neck joint is great, very easy to access all the way up to the 24th fret. The neck profile is hard to describe since it's so wide, but it's very thin and easy to play on.
If I had the desire to change anything on it, I would replace the tuners. I don't know if they are causing an issue, but the low string doesn't always hold it's tuning very well. Before going that route, though, I'm going to string it with a higher gauge set and see how it does.
Overall, I'm very impressed with this guitar. I don't see any reason to pay for a more expensive guitar when you get all this for $.
