Best Case I've Ever Owned

Just got this for Christmas to help keep my Gibson SG 60s Tribute safe. My mom was raving over the customer service of Sweetwater while I was raving over how perfect this case is. It's so strong and so protective. When it comes to cases I have owned, this one is king. I have owned off brand cases from random guitar stores and outlets and the SKB is by far the ultimate case. It has very strong latches and comes with two keys for locking. Wont be worried about my baby getting broken or scratched anymore. You will be happy with this one.

SKB SKB-61 Gibson SG Case

Case is very sturdy and fit my Son's Gibson SG with a Bigsby Tremelo perfectly. Many other cases were too thin and did not have space for the trem.

skb-61 problems

There are to problems with the skb-61 1: it does not accommodate left handed sgs.. the guitar has to be forced down to fit in. The horn openings were not cut to be universal. right handed only. 2: The headstock area will not accommodate Kluson style tuners.. again you have to force the headstock into the opening. the section is set up for rotomatic tuners.

Great construction, poor fit.

I would give this case 5 stars for construction quality, but one star for fit. Like any SKB case, this thing is built like a tank. High quality padding, latches, and shell. These cases can take a lot of abuse. However, it's too bad they designed this case to fit both the SG and the Viper. My Gibson SG fits in the case, but it's by no means a proper fit. The treble hit the side of the the case, because the SG body doesn't sit squarely in the cavity. Its a flaw caused by making the case able to fit the Viper's horns. The other issue is with the support up near the headstock. It's simply not high enough, which causes the headstock to bottom out. It might be high enough for an SG with a baseball bat neck (though I doubt it), but it's not even close for my 60's profile neck. It really is a shame they tried to kill two birds with one stone when designing this case. If they made two cases with different interiors they would have had another homerun on their hands. But as it stands I cannot recommend this case for an SG.

SKB -61 SG Case

I ordered this case along with my Epiphone SG pro. The guitar seemed to be a little longer than A Gibson hence having to squeeze the guitar in at an angle and stuffing it in which puts pressure on the neck. So I recommend there Epiphone case which I assume accommodates the guitar nicely. So make sure your Sweetwater agent test fits guitar into case to avoid problems. This guitar case is probably perfect for any Gibson SG and it should deserve a 5+ star rating cuz of its durability and construction. So I gave this a poor rating so people can read this and be warned.
