Seymour Duncan Pickups - It's all about tone!

Seymour Duncan's Hot Rails pickup is one of the highest output pickups Duncan makes, and also one of the most popular. The Hot Rails uses a pair of blades coupled with strong ceramic magnet and powerful coil windings to create a pickup that's full and fat with a ton of sustain - perfect for classic rock, but also lending itself very well to more aggressive tones such as garage rock or metal. Best of all, these humbuckers - and all their beefy tone - fits inside a single-coil-sized pickup. Add girth to your tone with the Hot Rails!

High output
One of the highest output and most popular pickups Seymour Duncan makes, the two thin blades, strong ceramic magnet, and powerful coil windings give you the incredible sustain and a fat, full sound that's needed for playing heavier rock music. This pickup responds to the subtlest finger movements, and comes with four-conductor hookup cable to facilitate flexible switching options such as coil tapping.

Complete setup
The Hot Rails are available for both bridge and neck/middle positions. For an incredibly versatile guitar, use an SHR-1b in the bridge position along with an SVR-1n Vintage Rails in the middle and an SCR-1n Cool Rails in the neck. You won't believe the sound coming from your Strat! The Hot Rail pickups respond well to maple or rosewood fingerboards.

What I Was Looking For

I didn't want a traditional "fat strat", I wanted to retain the traditional look of a Strat, but I needed more out of the bridge position. What I did was install the Hot Rails, along with a 500k push/pull pot. When pulled, the power to the Hot Rails is cut, giving it a great single coil sound without the 60 cycle hum. When pushed in, it's a full on, thick and powerful 'bucker that screams. The best of both worlds.

Best single coil sized humbucker. Tone is amazing. Lots of gain without being harsh

Sick Pickup

im not really an intense musician, or a very good one, so give me a break on this review for not spitting out numbers and technical facts i see all the other reviews have. what i own is a fender strat and a little marshall mg100dfx that can still shake the whole house pretty good, but i got too much feedback at even lower volumes. i had no idea how to install one of these but got it on a whim and took it to the music shop where the guy soldered it in for like 20 bucks. anyway the results were pretty singnificant: hardly any hum until i hit about 8, and even then barely any. but since all i needed to be heard over drums is about 5 1/2 - 6 it wasnt a problem at all. its nice because you dont have to buy a new pickguard to accomodate a traditional humbucker, and lets be real, it looks way sexier. remember thats what its all about - looking good 4.5 because its too expensive, but hey what isnt

Seymour Duncan review

I self installed my new Seymour Duncan 11205-02 SHR 1b hot rails pickup as soon as it arrived via mail. I'm using it in an old Ibanez road -star I've owned more than 20 yrs, and I love the sound! Fantastic gain and crunch when used with the right effects. The install was easy, as I've done many mods on this guitar and others I own. I chose not to use the coil splitting option for now, but I may do this later. Great product!!
