This Humbucker Gives You Heavenly Seymour Duncan Tone!

The SH-PG Pearly Gates was originally conceived to conjure tones similar to those of the pickups found in the venerable 1959 Les Paul Standard - the guitar that set the standard for Blues guitar tone. And chock-full of tone it is! Described as "sweet, but slightly rude," the SH-PG Pearly Gates makes your amp come alive with the perfect blend of sustain and harmonics - not to mention a nice, bright top-end. A versatile pickup, the SH-PG Pearly Gates can be paired with virtually any humbucker for a variety of tonal options.

Seymour Duncan SH-PG Pearly Gates at a Glance:
  • Sound
  • Complete setup

The SH-PG Pearly Gates has a tone that can be characterized a warm, with slighter-hotter-than-vintage humbucker output. You've heard the SH-PG on everything from blues to classic and southern rock to modern rock - it's versatility is key to its success. Originally designed as a re-creation of the pickups in the '59 Les Paul Standard, the SH-PG mimics the tone that defined the raw, rebellious sound of Texas blues-rock. The Pearly Gates is sweet, but slightly rude, with great sustain and a bright top end that make harmonics jump out of the guitar. It comes with four-conductor hookup cable to facilitate a variety of pickup-switching options.

Complete setup

The SH-PG Pearly Gates is often used in both neck and bridge positions, and can be used in the bridge with an APH-1 Alnico II Pro in the neck for smoother tones. A Pearly Gates in the neck with an SH-11 Custom Custom works well for heavier rock sounds from the bridge position. The SH-PG Pearly Gates is great for brighter toned instruments, and works especially well with maple and ebony fingerboards. It also works great with hollow and semi-hollowbody guitars.

Best Blues and Rock Pickup Ever

I have a PRS DGT guitar that has always sounded really good but there was always a little something missing with it's sound, IMO. I thought I'd try a Pearly in the Bridge wired as a straight humbucker only and man am I ever so happy I did! As a quick note the split coil sounds are OK but I have a great Stratocaster so trying to get those single coil sounds wasn't needed. My PRS now sings very much like an VOS R8 Les Paul with a voice my guitar has never had before, just wonderful! I was actually thinking about getting a LP and now I have a guitar that I would put up against even the most pricey models Gibson has to offer. If you have a mahogany bodied guitar this is the pickup for your Rock and Roll dreams to come true with, IMO naturally.

Great Pickup!

This Pickup is amazing just the sound I was looking for! I have an epiphone dot with SD 59 on the neck and this on the bridge I mostly play Rhythm and wow it just blows away the stock pickups. I play mostly Brit pop but you can play for sure harded stuff its really great for anything that combination with the 59 its just killer.

Exactly what my Goldtop needed

Makes my Les Paul sound like a $5000 guitar. Wired both zebra Pearly Gates bridge and nickel covered Pearly Gates neck into my Gibson Les Paul Traditional Goldtop. First noticeable difference was how sweet and clear the clean tones I can get from both pickups in all three positions. They have a destinct, chime with a bell like quality. With my Les Paul wired with quality pots and caps 50's style, I can roll off the volume and tone for a soft tone, or wide open for more presence and punch. Compared to a set of APH-1 Pro II's, they are a bit more rich in harmonics with slightly more breakup under drive. They also have less bass than mentioned set, making them the perfect set for aggressive bues/ rock. Under a high amount of tube distortion via Marshall DSL 100 or modern Peavey solid state, chords retain clarity. They easily cover everything from Classic to Modern rock with the right amp. The only quality I wish they had was a little more bass. Try these pickups in your favorite axe, and I doubt you'll be pulling them out.
