    Dr. Seymour is the Fix!

I had a problem. A Beautiful PRS SE Custom 24 30th Anniversary that just didn't sound as good as it could. I knew after I got the guitar that I would be replacing the pickups down the road. I went with a set that I knew would breath the awesome sound that I knew that this guitar was capable of. I removed the G&B stock pickups. They just wasn't as clear and sounded muddy to me. I installed a set of tried and true Zebra Duncan SH-4 JB in the bridge and a SH-2 Jazz in the neck. I decided to not wire in the coil split option due to the fact that I just don't use it and not crazy about single coils except P-90's. WOW...It turned this PRS into a Fire Breathing Dragon. I have a couple of Gibson's and I do know that know matter how good the guitar is and how well it's made, pickups, can make or break. I have used this set in the past and knew that I would be happy with the results. You cant go wrong with these pickups. The JB is screaming and ballsy and the Jazz is warm and clear. I compare these to the 498T and 490R or a 57 Classics and Classic Plus set from Gibson. A great combination from Seymour Duncan. Thanks again to Patrick and the guys at Sweetwater!!

    Great pup

Great pup! As always Duncan delivers...
Not too bright in the bridge of my strat. Really nice sounding and full. VERY clear and articulate. Allows for expressive playing! I'd buy more but I don't need another as that guitar is the only one I've been playing!

    Great Bridge Pickup

I ordered this along with a Jazz for the neck to replace the stock pickups in my Epiphone Les Paul and I couldn't be happier. I originally decided to replace both pickups because I found my neck pickup to be terribly muddy thru an overdriven amp and I figured while I was replacing it I might as well replace the bridge pickup too even though I wasn't unhappy with the stock bridge pickup. I'm glad I did because I didn't know just how much sound I was missing with the stock bridge pickup, the JB just really breathes life into the sound compared to the stock pickup, there's a new found richness that wasn't there before. Like I said, I thought the stock pickup sounded pretty decent until I got the JB installed and heard what my guitar sounded like thru it. You can't go wrong with this pickup

It's so popular for a reason

I haved used, and actually have this pickup in three different guitars with three different woods and the one consistency with this pickup is that it sounds equally great with all three. Even though it is high output, it does NOT get muddy like some high output pickups do. Note definition is incredible, and this pickup cleans up nicely.

    Great sound

I have a Epiphone les Paul standard..had it for years thought I would spice it up and get some new pickups so I went with the sh-4 in the bridge and sh-2 in the neck (zebra) while the stock pickups gives a full sound it can be a little muddy as well..With the Seymour Duncan's they r brite and clear for the clean sound and airy and very raw sounding but still clear hearing every note ring out with a tube amp..can't go wrong for the price..Rock on

    Duncan SH-4 JB Zebra

I've used Seymour Duncans in several guitars in the past. they Definetly are my favorite P/U's. I recently placed this one in a used Dean Vendetta solid body and !!! That's High Output Tone... So I bought another to place in a Strat and again Great Tone. I'm very satified with my choice and highly recommend this for HardRock / Metal players.

    The Ultimate Rock P'up

Great pickup, however I am returning it, and here's why:

I was looking for a pickup that would have a similar EQ curve as my SH-6 Duncan Distortion, but with slightly less output, and fuller bass. I bought the JB after months of research and many recommendations from other players, only to find it wasn't what I expected. It's definitely a hotter pickup, but not enough so for me. I don't play extreme metal or anything, I just like more natural compression and bite to my pickup. It also lacks the immediate attack you get with a ceramic pickup, and there is a certain "grainy" or "fuzzy" quality about it's tone (not in a bad way). With high gain the JB has a softer low end than I was hoping for, but it holds up with lower tunings just fine. The midrange is growly and focused, but can become congested and overtake the other frequencies if you don't dial your amp in right. The high end is very sweet and makes for awesome leads, no complaints there. With a crunch tone it's nearly perfect, chunky low-end, big mids, and singing highs. I did find it difficult to get a clean tone I was happy with. I would even say that I prefer the clean tone of the Distortion over the JB, but that's just my personal preference of course. Overall, if you play anything from classic rock and metal to modern hard rock, you can't go wrong with the JB. But if you want something heavier, I think there are better pickups for the job. Hope that helps!
