PRS SE Tim Mahoney Baby Blue Reviews

4.5 stars based on 5 customer reviews

The sleeper among PRS SE guitars

I have owned my PRS set I'm Mahoney signature guitar for several months now. It is hands down the best value guitar I have ever owned as it challenges other HH configuration guitars I own that retailed for nearly 7x the price. If you have played a Custom 24 SE, the quality, fit and finish combined with the straight forward features of the SE TM signature model equate to a guitar that it ready to play straight out of it's Gig Bag. Which uch by the way is one of the nicest Gig Bag I have yet to see. If you're looking for a high-quality HH guitar with great feel, tone and looks, buy this guitar.

    This guitar is amazing.

I couldn't have been happier with this guitar. The body is light, the action is low, and the tone is rich. I am so delighted to play a guitar inspired by 311. This guitar is amazing.

    Thank You PRS!

I was looking at the PRS SE line of guitars because of the great reviews I had seen online. I originally wanted the SE Custom 24 model, but after I played this Tim Mahoney model I was sold! I was initially hesitant about the guitar because of the color and the signature on the headstock. Who cares?! This thing is so comfortable to play with the forearm contour and stoptail bridge, and the color is growing on me. This guitar is just like the standard Custom 24 model in playability but actually benefits from having a stoptail. I prefer stoptails for their simplicity and better tuning stability. I also feel that there is increased sustain. I feel that I have finally found a guitar with the playability and comfort level I was looking for. I can play this for hours with no problem because it is not heavy and actually balances on a strap. This sort of balance seems to be becoming quite rare in electric guitars today. I want to thank PRS for this excellent product and Sweetwater for their excellent service. Thank you!

    Nice for the price

I have two standard PRS's and this is on par with them. The body has a bit less wood and this doesn't have the cool locking tuners my others have, but for the money it is a fantastic sound.

A must for any 311 fan or anyone that wants a decent guitar under $1000.

    Nice guitar, great value

I have had this for a few months now. Set up out of the box was perfect. Action was low and no buzz. The pickup switch seemed to have a slight connection issue, the neck pickup would get really quiet sometimes when moving the switch, like it wasn't making full contact. Pickups sound good but due to the connection issue, I took the opportunity to put in a Seymour Duncan Aph-1 in the neck and a JB sh-4 in the bridge to match Tims actual pickups. It did make a nice difference.

The only other problem was with the nut. The guitar comes with size 9 strings. I use 10s as well as Tim Mahoney I believe. The nut slots were way too small for the 6, 5 and 4 strings. I had to buy a set of nut files and make the nut slots bigger to move up one size in strings.
