A Modern-style Bass from PRS

The PRS SE Kingfisher is a modern-style bass that packs an impressive arsenal of tones. The neck humbucker's full, classic voice is well balanced by the neck humbucker's punch and articulation. Where we feel the Kingfisher really shines, however, is in blending the pickups together. The result is a big and commanding sound that works well for slap-and-pop funk and fusion lines. A lightweight ash body and a stable five-ply maple/walnut neck round out the PRS SE Kingfisher bass's other features.

PRS SE Kingfisher Electric Bass Guitar at a Glance:
  • Ash body provides a balanced tone with just enough attack
  • Maple and walnut neck enhances tonal balance
  • PRS quality in every guitar
Ash body provides a balanced tone with just enough attack

With its balanced, yet bright tone, ash tends to be highly resonant across the entire frequency spectrum. Similar, but slightly more pronounced than alder, ash tends to have more "bite" in its top end. Sweetwater knows bassists will love the quick attack and dynamic range provided by this excellent tonewood.

Maple and walnut neck enhances tonal balance

Although composed primarily of maple, this PRS SE Kingfisher's five-ply neck also benefits from the addition of maple, which further enhances this bass guitar's tonal balance, while providing additional strength and an enhanced appearance. This bass guitar's neck-through design allows trouble-free access to its entire fingerboard, in addition to providing everlasting, awe-inspiring sustain.

PRS quality in every guitar

All PRS guitars and basses are designed for top-notch performance, right out of the case, and this SE Kingfisher bass guitar is no exception. Constructed from top-notch tonewoods and components, PRS instruments carry on a commitment to quality that's been the brand's hallmark since 1985, when Paul Reed Smith himself started hand-building guitars for some of the most elite players in the world.

PRS SE Kingfisher Electric Bass Guitar Features:
  • Ash body delivers a balanced and dynamic tone
  • Maple and walnut neck further enhances balanced tone
  • Neck-through design provides everlasting, awe-inspiring sustain
  • Hipshot bridge and tailpiece with thru-body stringing for improved sustain and timbre

A Dream to Play

I am a huge fan of this bass. It plays great right out of the box, like any guitar I've ordered from Sweetwater. The tone is great and feel of the fret board is outstanding. As always, it was a pleasure dealing with Carson McClain on my order.

Very Nice Bass

These Korean made PRS instruments are extremely well made and a good bargain. Flawless construction and very attractive. I'm no pro but it sounds fine coming out of a Fender Rumble 40 in my living room. Very versatile sound wise and easy to play. For reasons I can't explain I have been wanting a neck through instrument for some time, and this scratched the itch.
