An Awesome Set of Mic Live or in the Studio!

Here's a great deal on a complete matched set of sE Electronics sE4400a condenser microphones. What makes the sE Electronics sE4400a so special? We could come up with a long list, but we'll distill it into one point for now. It has a twin-capsule design, giving it a load of multi-polar power. That means, you can record in different pickup patterns, so the sE4400a will rule in pretty much any recording scenario. Top-grade electronics and meticulous capsule tuning provide you with a smooth and flattering frequency response, and with this matched pair of sE4400a condenser microphones, you're ready to record anything in breathtaking stereo.

As an extra bonus, sE Electronics includes an entire set of handy accessories. First, there's a pair of super-cool shockmounts. These unique shockmounts let you fit you sE4400a microphones into cramped spaces. You can also invert each clamp to extend the microphone outside the shockmount, allowing you to easily close-miking sources. The accessory kit also come with a sturdy stereo microphone mounting bar, plus you get a stylish steel-reinforced flight case to protect your sE4400as from harm.

A Must-have Stereo Mic Set for Stage and Studio!
A perfect all-around set of condenser mics! Put sE Electronics' sE4400a matched pair of condenser mics above a drum kit, on a piano, in front of an orchestra, or anywhere else you need perfectly matching stereo sound and you won't be able to help but be impressed by the results. Using a twin-diaphragm design, each of these sE4400a microphones sports cardioid, hypercardioid, omni, and figure 8 polar patterns, letting you put this black beauty to work doing just about anything. While the sE4400a takes its cues from the sE2200a, the sE4400a spent nearly two years being tested in professional studio and broadcast facilities around the world to make sure it was truly an all-around sucess. Now with this matched pair of sE4400a condenser microphones, you get the same versatility and awesome sound quality established by the sE4400a, but in stereo!

Super-versatile microphones by design!

Even a perfectly matched set of condenser microphones is only truly useful if the mics are easy to position. That's why sE Electronics created the sE4400a to be as flexible as possible. The sE4400a is one of the smallest large-diaphragm mics around, letting you slip into places most mics can't go. Plus, the flat-fronted sE4400a lets you get right up on a grille cloth for an up-front sound. Each sE4400a comes with a unique shock mount which allows you to fit the mounted mic into tiny spaces, or invert the shock clamp to extend the mic fully outside the shock mount for close mic-ing applications or vocals. And to make this matched set of sE4400a microphones even more versatile, sE even includes a hand stereo mounting bar in addition to a pair of killer shock mounts and a custom flight case.

Shocking Sound!

These mics are GREAT. I was in the market for a pair of multipattern LDCs, and tried out a bunch of different things. Shure KSM44s, AKG C414s, and AT4050s to name a few. I really enjoyed the high-end of the Shures, but felt the midrange was lacking. The AKGs had the midrange I was looking for, but the high-end was a little too present for my liking. The AT4050s felt bland and too bright, so I figured I'd take a gander on something different. I had used a couple of other sE products before, namely the X1 and the X1-D, and liked them enough to trust the quality of the 4400s. Despite scouring for hours online, the text and audio documentation is rather lacking, but I liked what little I read and heard. After getting them, I immediately hooked them up to my interface and put them in Blumlein and tracked some acoustic guitar. The results blew me away! Super smooth high-end and rich, detailed midrange. The people online who have compared them to the old brass-capsuled 414EBs are definitely on to something. Since receiving them, I've used them on acoustic guitar, drum overheads, and both male and female vocals with phenomenal results. Seriously great mics for a solid price.

Great Workhorse Mic

Nice midrange, very natural and unhyped sounding. I got these after trying out the AKG C314s and finding the AKGs to be not at all to my liking. I love the sEs in XY and blumlein -- have had great results with these on acoustic guitar, upright bass, percussion. Spaced pair on a grand piano sounded full and natural as well. Got a very workable fiddle recording as well, which is a real testament to their unhyped sound. I got a second pair to cover "live in the studio" duties with acoustic duos and trios and to have a wider matched array available for live choral work. I feel very comfortable setting these up as instrument mics, and would have no problem cutting vocals with them as well, especially for a singer not needing an extra presence push.

perfect pair

i bought a pair of these after reading an article in tapeop about manny nieto using them to record chinese underground artists and wanting a decent stereo pair for recording live performances.they are built extremely well. nice solid construction. easy to read switch notations. the shockmounts are nice and the mounting bracket is a you get a carrying case, which is always handy.running the two of them through a variety of preamps, including a pair of AEA RPQ500's, i realized that these mics are going to be my go-to mics for most vocals and acoustic instruments. they're very clear, not harsh sounding at all. the top and bottom end seemed full and natural.using the pair individually on a variety of sources along with the sE reflexion filters impressed me quite a bit. for the price, these are worth every cent.
