Great piece of gear for the price
I couldn't be happier with a $30 D.I. box! With my guitar going through it, it has bright mids but that can be adjusted on the mixer/in the DAW. The added bonus of a ground lift switch and a input level switch are just icing on the cake. If you need a D.I. box on a budget, this one's for you.
interesting results
I compared using this direct box against the emulated speaker cabinet balanced out in my amp. While this direct was ok, it did not compare to the sound of the amp's direct out. Not even close. There is quite a peak in the mids with lot a lot of low end. I'm not going to say it was bad, but just ok. We did use it today to boost and convert an acoustic guitar's unbalanced sound hole pickup and ran it through out PA. That sounded very good.
