When you pick up a Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR, you're getting an off-the-shelf solidbody electric guitar that looks great, plays magnificently, and sounds amazing as is. Forget about after-market mod - these are the scorching hot Seymour Duncan humbuckers you were going to grab anyway. That Floyd Rose tremolo bridge is the real deal too, and 2-point locks mean zero string slippage. If you've never experienced the action of a compound-radius neck, then you're in for a treat, but even if you have, you'll love the feel of the hand-rubbed urethane finish, and graphite reinforcement means you never have to worry about warping. What's more, the quilt veneer on the alder body gives this Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR stunning good looks, without adding unwanted weight.

Classic Seymour Duncan humbuckers deliver iconic rock tone

You'll rarely come across a more broadly liked combination of pickups than the duo loaded into this Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR guitar. In fact, at Sweetwater, sticking a Seymour Duncan JB model at the bridge and one of their '59 humbuckers at the neck is a pretty popular mod. Why? Because these pickups come together to give you a wide range of amazing tone. When you rock a Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR guitar, you'll get the toothy grit you need for riffing plus the fat and smooth lead tones you love.

Floyd Rose tremolo delivers killer action and reliable tuning

True to the high standards Sweetwater guitarists expect from Charvel, this incredible guitar was built with nothing but quality hardware onboard. That's why they gave the Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR guitar a real 2-point, double-locking Floyd Rose tremolo tailpiece. Floyd Rose bridges stay in tune, holding up to the abuse any hard rocking guitarist dishes out. The lightweight Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo tailpiece gives you the real feel of an original Floyd Rose, adding to the Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR's amazingly responsive feel.

Fast, stable, and comfortable neck provides epic playability

Complementing the sonic spank of a 2-piece maple neck with the unshakable support of graphite reinforcement rods, the Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR offers traditional Charvel sound with extreme stability. If your idea of playing out involves cross-country road trips or air travel, then this guitar may be your new best friend. The Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR also offers the extraordinary playability of a compound-radius fretboard, which flattens out from 12" at the nut to 16" at the 12th fret. That makes it ideal for chording and solo runs. Top it off with a hand-rubbed urethane finish and rolled fingerboard edges, and you've got a guitar that's a pure pleasure to play.

Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR at a Features:
  • An amazing axe that gives you hot-rodded Fender style, Charvel feel, and classic-rock-style humbucker tone
  • Combination of Seymour Duncan JB and '59 humbuckers delivers tried-and-true rock sound

Awesome Guitar for the money!

This is a great guitar with some very nice features and straight-forward wiring. Two pickups, a three-way switch, volume and tone, and a FLoyd Rose. Keep It Simple Stupid, right? I much prefer this guitar to an Ibanez or Schecter or whatever else is out there. It definitely has a Fender-ish feel to it, but that's a good thing. (No surprise since Charvel is a subsidiary of FMIC). The neck is pretty flat, but in keeping for this style of super-strat. It stays in tune well with lots of whammy bar abuse. I used it to do some recording and the tones were really nice and it stayed in tune well, though I did find myself wishing it had some split-coil tones or a 5-way.The pickups are a little dark, but that's nothing a little EQ can't fix. The fretboard isn't broken in yet, but will be after I play it for a while. If you like high gloss necks, you might not dig it. My two minor complaints are the "purple" finish is very dark and looks almost black most of the time, especially under stage lights, and guitar in this price range generally ship with at least a gig bag. Getting a decent case will add $ to the price tag.

Sweetwater Advice

Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 1 HH FR

The cool thing about the San Dimas is that, while it's clearly targeted at the shredder, it covers miles of musical territory....The bridge pickup is muscular, open, and sounds reminiscent of some of Guthrie Govan's brash lead tones. For rhythm playing, the tight low end makes Eddie Van Halen-style metal-boogie riffs and percussive djent-type rhythms sound equally tough and clear....
