Ultimate drum library for rock, metal, and prog

I've been recording in Pro Tools for 14 years, and I've tried a LOT of different things to get good drum tones (both from live drums and samples). EZ Drummer was impressive. Superior Drummer 2 really blew me away. But THIS library in SD2 is absolutely unreal. It's like being a kid in a candy store, but with drum tones. The kits have a lot of different tones available, and the selection of microphones is nothing shy of ridiculous. If you're a real tweaker when it comes to drums, this is heaven. I was a big fan of the Metal Machine EZX, and I still think it's great for quick and easy demos. But the Progressive Foundry has given me the BEST results I've ever had, hands down.

Best drum sounds ever

I own most of Superior Drummer expansion libraries, and this one is the best sounding and most detailed library you will find. Awesome.

The last drum library you will need!

Not sure if the headline here is how good these drums sound or the Sheer number of options. 17 snares, three options for overheads, great sounding room, the best mics and mic pres. As always there is a lot of samples at different velocities so you don't get the machine gunning you might hear from other drum library makers. Toontrack seems to have overlooked only one thing, we won't need any more expansions from them, this one is the new gold standard.

In my opinion there best to date!

My Last Purchase

After using Logic's drummer for a good while, it was high time I took the next step in drum sounds. After purchasing SD2 and not being too thrilled with the stock sounds, I purchase the Progressive Foundry and must say this is what I have been looking for. So many cymbals, so many snares, and so many options--all beautiful sampled and endlessly tweak-able of course. I do not think I will be needing to make any more purchases in the drum world for a long time. If you create anything remotely resembling rock/alternative, this kit can probably fit into your style. Granted, if you're trying to do jazz maybe not. But otherwise, this seems to be a very good 'general' purchase for anyone looking at the SDX's.Only reason 4.5 and not 5 is because it does not come with many Preset Mixes (it has a like 6, but I already wish it had more, at least for starting points).

Sweetwater Advice

Aaron Rom

As soon as the Progressive Foundry was announced, I knew I needed to get my hands on it! I'm a big fan of Forrester Savell's work with Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, and many others in the Australian progressive rock scene, so finding out that he was teaming up with Karnivool's Steve Judd for this project was awesome. This expansion pack for Superior Drummer did not disappoint! It's an essential add-on for anyone who's looking for new and exciting drum sounds to help their music progress.
