Engineering the best speaker possible

Heavy science and engineering backs up every ATC product. These monitors aren't just cobbled together from parts that will work together. The ATC SCM25A Pro was thoroughly engineered to give you the best sound, response, and reproduction of your audio possible. You'll hear every change and every detail in your recordings. Hear the difference of truly engineered monitors with the ATC SCM25A Pro.

Proprietary speakers offer life-like playback

Great-sounding monitors start with great-sounding speakers. The ATC SCM25A Pro's low and mid drivers are manufactured to exacting standards at their in-house facility. Hand-wound voice coils are made from flat oxygen-free copper wire and operate in a precision long magnetic gap. Specially designed magnet vents not only reduce air flow noise and heat, but increase power handling and reliability. These drivers are designed to give you a smooth and even frequency response without built-in EQ. In short, the SCM25A Pro was designed to perform and sound better.

The legacy of ATC monitors

A young engineer named Billy Woodman spent his younger days working side by side with some of the best speaker engineers of his day. In 1974 Billy went on to found ATC, Acoustic Transducer Company, and began building amazing-sounding speakers. Today ATC hand builds speakers one at a time to ensure the utmost quality and best sound. Billy continues to invent new drivers, new speakers and new ideas, giving you the best monitors in the industry. How good are ATC monitors? Just ask producers and engineers like George Massenburg, Chuck Ainley and Doug Sax. You'll also find them in Abbey Road Studios, Sony Studios New York, Blackbird Studios. and many more. Grab a pair of ATC SCM25A Pro monitors and hear the difference they'll make in your studio.

ATC SCM25A - First Class, Honest, Extremely High Quality

The ATC active loudspeakers are truly outstanding across the lines (pro, consumer). I use the ATC SCM25A speakers on my mixing desk, and they are simply first class in every regard. Are they relatively expensive? Yes. Are they worth it. Absolutely. Also, I have worked with salesperson Jim Swaim for a few years, and have found him to be totally professional, pleasant and courteous, and clear. Are there different studio monitors of this general type...of course. However, I just don't think there is much - if anything at all - that can match the quality of the ATC SCM25A.

Absolutely Astonishing

These monitors are so good, and provide so much musical information, that I was overwhelmed by them for the first couple of weeks. It was as if my brain had to somehow re-set.

From a practical standpoint for mixers, engineers, and producers, you almost never have to solo a track, because you can clearly and distinctly hear everything in every mix. It's actually disconcerting at times.

I am fortunate to have a fantastic pair of Bowers & Wilkins 805D3 hifi speakers on my nearby main stereo system. I never thought those speakers could be matched for sonic quality, much less exceeded. But the ATC SCM25As do so (although the B&Ws are "tuned" better for "personal-enjoyment" listening).

Kudos to my superb Sweetwater engineer, Anthony Longano, who arranged to have a matched pair of the ATCs shipped direct to me from England (long story).

Bottom line: if you can afford these monitors, (or think you can reach for them financially), do so. These are my best studio purchase ever.

This is another world! Just listen it ...

I rarely write reviews for gear but after buying and listening to these speakers I must say they blew my mind. For many years I have worked with many professional speaker brands (Genelec, Dynaudio, Yamaha, PMC and others), all of them very good, but ATC for me is something that breaks the schemes and is out of the ordinary. Anyone who can buy a pair of these speakers will appreciate the value for money. Just listen it!

My goodness!!!

I have lived with M-Audio's BX-5's, Sennheiser's / Beyer's quality headphones and a pair of QSC's KW-153's for quite some time struggling to make the important decisions as best as possible, guessing a lot. These speakers are heavy, heavy! Through Slingbox, I brought a DirecTV radio channel of New Country into the interface and my first impression was "wow"!!! Then a few of my recordings gave me the same impression as each song played. I called my business partner to come listen...I put on the Country channel again and he was speechless at first but agreed they were really good. Then, the next song came up and you could instantly tell the difference between the first and second song's mix being entirely different which told me instantly that that first song's mix was a lot better. These bad-boy speakers are superb and should take all the guesswork out. My last thought before closing is that the speakers are idling as this is being typed and are dead quite just waiting...

One website review to watch is a speaker shootout with Warren Huart's - Produce Like a Pro. They come back mentioning the mid-range speaker as airy and a breath of fresh air.

Thanks again Brendan Murphy (#1287) for your friendship and assistance!!!

The Search is Over!

I've been researching and auditioning 3-way near/mid-fields for a couple of years as I've been looking to take my monitoring setup to the next level of resolution. None of the speakers I tried really gave me the level of mid-range clarity I was looking for without sounding harsh, over-bright or hyped in some way. I was very excited when I discovered Sweetwater were starting to offer the ATC's, and I dropped in to try a pair of the 25's. Truly amazing. Having lived with them for several weeks, I can't help smiling when I listen to them. They have the perfect balance of revealing detail without any kind of edge - whilst they are almost 'forensic' in their detail, it's still an absolute blast to listen to well-recorded material on them. To be clear, they DO NOT make everything sound good - mediocre recordings will be exposed for what they are. Considering their small size, I had some reservations about their bass response, but it is truly excellent - 'there' without being overblown. I really cannot recommend these highly enough.
